Default Remote start installed - need to disconnect horn

Hey all,

I recently got a remote start added to my 2014 Ford F-150. I love it - however, since it wasn't installed from the factory (which adds a button on the key) I have to hit my lock button 3 times in order for the truck to crank. It sounds petty, but I use it at fairly odd hours and don't want to have my horn going off (if I can help it). I've dug through the owner's manual and didn't find much - does anyone know how to stop the horn from sounding when I hit the lock button? Any help would be appreciated - thanks!

Use FORScan. Sticky at top of this section.

Yep. I think you're looking for "quiet start."

The OEM "quiet start" option has nothing to do with the horn (lowers RPM for remote start). Doubt it would be an option for an aftermarket setup.

OP, I would search the forscan thread for disabling honk with 2nd/3rd lock button press.

Why do you have to hit it 3 times? I installed the factory system for a hair over $100. Only have to hit the lock button once, then the start button twice

I paid a local business to install it for me, so I can't really answer that. It may be something in the programming that they did that required the 3x lock button. I don't have a start button on my factory key, only lock/unlock/alarm.

I've also been reading through the FORScan, but I'm not seeing anything that matches my issue. I've never used anything like that before though, so it's most likely my ignorance.

You'll have to disable the horn honk on lock option if you don't want it going off. You would have been best off getting the OEM remote start installed or doing it yourself.

How do I disable that lock option? I've been through my whole dash display and I don't think I saw anything like that. I believe what I bought was the OEM remote start because it was done completely through the computer programming of my truck and used my factory keys. Again, I may be mistaken because I'm not very knowledgeable about this kind of stuff.

This is what a factory remote start key looks like

Yeah, I don't have the 2x circle in the bottom right. Thus the reason I have to hit lock 3x. Not sure if this is an option that can be changed?
