You do have the Ford OEM remote start in the vehicle correct ?

If so , what are the settings displayed in the message center for the remote start?

Sorry golfer just saw this I will check tonight but yes it is the factory remote start. I have been watching it and here is the thing. When I shut it off I have the heat on at 75 with it on floor and windshield. When I use the remote start and get in and use my key before it shuts off then all is good the heat stays on. Its when the timer runs out and the truck shuts off that I have to start it with the key that nothing is on I have to turn it all on again.

Almost like it is going from the last time it was running no lights are on so it might be fooling the system that on a key start it goes back to the last setting which could be read as "off""?

@golfer while I have only had my 2013 for a month, I do believe my heated seats came on when it was in the 40's outside. I remember them being warm. it has not been hot enough here to test cooling.

The information regarding the ambient temperature range I posted came from a 2011 edition service manual. I did make a notation that Ford apparently changed the ambient temperature parameters since then .
From what I recall reading some time ago , this was done because of complaints and were changed from 32 degrees upward to the 40+ range. I just haven't found the exact changes.

To summarize .....

When the remote start is initialized the climate control seems to function properly. As long as you enter the vehicle before the *time out* and turn the key to *run* everything is fine.
Your concern is when the *time out* is completed and you key start the truck manually the climate control is off and you have to turn it on manually.

I have the manual climate control system in my truck and not familiar with the operating characteristics of the Auto climate system , unfortunately can't offer anything further.

thank you for this post. That was the piece I was missing.

Manual climate control

For hot weather conditions:
• The climate control system will be set to MAX A/C.

For cold weather conditions:
• The climate control system will be set to provide maximum heating
in (floor/defrost) mode.
• Rear defrost/heated mirrors (if equipped) will be activated.

For moderate weather conditions:
• The interior cabin will be heated, cooled or off, based upon the
previous operating state (last ignition-on cycle).
• Rear defrost/heated mirrors (if equipped) will be deactivated.

Automatic climate control

For hot weather conditions:
• The interior cabin will be cooled to 72°F (22°C).
• The cooled seats (if equipped and if the feature is selected to AUTO
in the message center) will be set to high.

For cold weather conditions:
• The interior cabin will be heated to 72°F (22°C).

A while back I came across more detailed information as to the temperature ranges for Cold - Hot - Moderate operational characteristics for the climate control during remote start. Frankly, I'm not sure why Ford didn't include this in the owner's manual for clarification.....*** I haven't been able to confirm , but Ford may have changed the ambient temperature values since this information was available.***
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For cold ambient air temperatures (below 32° F (0° C)):

• the airflow mode is set to FLOOR/DEFROST.
• the temperature is set to full HOT.
• the blower speed is set to HIGH.
• the air inlet mode is set to fresh air.
• the auxiliary electric heater is enabled if needed (diesel only).

**** For moderate ambient air temperatures (between 32° F (0° C) and 80° F (27° C)):

• the airflow mode is set to the last user setting.
• the temperature is set to the last user setting.
• the blower speed is set to the last user setting.
• the air inlet mode is set to the last user setting.
• the auxiliary electric heater is enabled if needed (diesel only).

For hot ambient air temperatures (above 80° F (27° C)):

• the airflow mode is set to MAX A/C.
• the temperature is set to full COOL.
• the blower speed is set to HIGH.
• the air inlet mode is set to RECIRC.
• the auxiliary electric heater is not enabled (diesel only).

Seats
When the vehicle is started using the remote start feature, the driver/passenger climate controlled seat activates in full heat mode when the outside temperature is less than 32° F (0° C)and full cool mode when outside temperature is greater than 80° F (27° C).

Mirrors
When the vehicle is started using the remote start feature and the outside temperature is less than 32° F (0° C), the heated mirrors will be activated.

Rear Defroster
When the vehicle is started using the remote start feature and the outside temperature isless than 32° F (0° C), the rear defroster will be activated.

Is there any way to change the auto settings for the temperature ranges? Up here in Pitsburgh, it went from 90s to 40/50s overnight, so I went from having the climate control off, to needing it to be on in the morning. Also, I had the heater on last night when I pulled into the driveway, but this morning when I remote started the truck and it was 35, the heater didn't turn on. I have it set to auto for remote start, and from the information you provided, the heater should have turned on to what I had it set at last night but didn't.

I'm not aware of being able to change the temperature thresholds , perhaps that's something that can be done through forscan?

Since the heat/cool function in remote start is based on the outside ambient air temperature , if your temp sensor gives an erroneous reading ( say higher than should be ) then you would fall into the *moderate range*. In which case in you wouldn't have heat.
Do you have manual or automatic climate control?

I have it set to automatic right now, but I have noticed the last couple of mornings when I start it up, the heater and defroster don't come on until after I put the key in to start driving, it was 34, so the last set should have kicked on, which was heater and defrost, right?
