Remote start

After calling 6 ford dealers around here and getting a 130-140$ quote for activation, I decided to look more into the viper. I called around and got a quote from an authorized dealer for 330$ installed with warranty for the 5706v. The ford long rang was 245$ with 130$ activation so that would have put me at 375$. I feel as though the viper is a better alarm for less money. So I'm going to go with the viper. Thanks everyone for your opinions and suggestions!

I have a 2011 F150 XL that only came with 1 key. I priced getting new keys and it was over $200 (2 keys with 3 buttons on it and 1 key with no buttons on it for safe keeping) for the keys and programming.
If I buy the remote start with two keys, will that accomplish my goal of having 2 keys so that I can program additional keys myself? With the added benefit of starting my truck from my living room while drinking my morning cup of that wonderful elixir that God so lovingly gave us. (Coffee that is)
Or am I just wishing for the stars?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Since you only have one key, the dealer will have to program the keys when they activate the remote start. Most dealers will charge 1 hour labor to perform both tasks. So for about $350 you will end up with remote start and three keys.

I successfully added a integrated keyhead remote start to my long range system, Does not have the same range as the standalone two-way keyfob, but it will start my truck from the 2nd floor of my gym with no problems, as long as I have it parked facing the building.

If you get the version with cellular access you wont need any additional keys. It's all done from your cell phone or a computer. And the range is UNLIMITED. You could start your truck from a thousand miles away if you wanted to.

So on 2011 and up, the OEM remote start, once activated, will control your HVAC system, the way you want it to.
