Default Remote Start

I bought a 2012 Plantinum Screw 4x4 Ecoboost in December. The remote start was working great till now.

The last couple of days the remote start will or will not work at random.

Will get my dealer to check it out next oil change. Was wondering if anyone here has had a problem with there factory remote start?

Thanks

Only times I had an issue with the Remote Start was after:
1) Swapped LEDs into the front Dome lights
2) Had one of the front dome lights burn out.

When I pressed the Start it would chirp - signaling a door was open...

Remote Start on these trucks suck. It is not consistent when it works, just as you are experiencing. There is absolutely no reason you have to press lock first. You should be able to press start twice and it locks the truck and starts, my previous Dodge truck worked that way. The range is terrible. Remote starts should work from 300' and through walls. I practically have to have line of site with the truck. 2011 was the first year they added this feature, give Ford time as they should get it right....

Let us know what the dealer does for you.

I saw in another post that moving the Sirius module helps. Apparantely there is some sort of interference going on.

Forgot to mention mine is a 2010.... just tossed my situation to help you possibly trouble shoot yours.

However I have no other intermitent issues and the range is pretty damn good. Looks like they messed it up with whatever system they went to in 2011...

I have the stock remote start system, and it's only failed me once in the 4 months I've owned my truck, and I think I just didn't close one of the door fully.

It's worked at up to 300', but yeah, walls tend to limit it some. So far, my wife and I have been quite happy with the remote start on my truck.

My remote start is becoming intermittent. The horn gives two beeps when it fails. Today it tried to turn over and failed. Seems to be a cold issue, works fine after initial warm up. See what the dealer can do.
