Default Remote access

Just got the email. I guess all good things must come to an end. Disappointed because I really liked the cellular start.

Does anyone know if there’s plans to release a “new” control unit that could use current technology? I get it that these trucks are getting “outdated”, but I was hoping they’d let the service continue.

*mods feel free to move it it should be in a different sub-forum*

Knew it would happen eventually. Guess I will have to make a remote start key and move the antenna to the headliner eventually.

Well ain't that a bitch! I have the extended antenna already but any vehicles parked any where near me that have dash cams, cell phone chargers etc plugged in interfere with the signal so much you have to be damn near on top of the truck for it to work.

Guess I'll be looking into an aftermarket remote access

****. Lovely how they say contact your dealer for options when there are no options since they already discontinued those, too.

I haven't received any correspondence yet, but that sucks. If you find a good alternative, please let us know. I know I can add an aftermarket alarm and re-gain that functionality and more, but I would prefer just to have to remote access functionality. Perhaps something that plugs in similar to the Remote Access or connects to the OBD port.

I found an almost plug-n-play option for us in the 2011-2014 trucks from https://www.12volt.solutions/product...769d60ff&_ss=r

According to the kit you only need to connect 2 wires to the door lock/unlock wires, 3 wires if you also want the running lights to come on with remote start. When I say almost plug-n-play that's what I mean. You still have to plug in the module to various points under the steering column. Looks like maybe a half hour install at most.

I've already d/l the app and registered an account in advanced if I decide to go this route when this year ends. Cost $430 for the kit, the 1st year is free then $39/yr sub fee. So it's a bit cheaper to use than what we have now. Link to the app the system uses if you're Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...audiovox&hl=en

The system does support Apple if that's your phone, no link for that app you'll have to get that where you get apps. And get this, the same company Voxx Automotive runs the show, you would think they would continue the Ford system.

Go to the web page where you renew the sub and you'll see the notice.

Oh and I also sent a request for refund of the unusable portion of my plan as I had already renewed my sub to 06/2021. Contact support@voxxautomotive.com if you are in the same situation.

Mine actually expires December 16th so I'm good until then. The app you found look nice, but I can't see paying for a full remote start system when I already have factory remote start and would just like to add the phone option.

It is what it is. I've looked at several different systems and that one is the only 1 that seems to be the easiest to install and operate and have cell phone access. That may change in the next 6 months though so it's just a starting point for now.

Come this December when the system goes offline I'll splurge for a xmas present to my self with it or another solution if one presents itself. I'm not ready to sell my truck in the next 5 years, only have 21k on it in the last 7 so it's still basically a new truck.
