Default Regearing for bigger tires/rough country reviews

So looking for some input on the above titled thread. I know there are a few on here running the rough country 6". Any input/reviews/opinions on the lift would be great. Any trimming required to run 20x10s with a -24 offset?

What's everyone regrading to for the 35s? I'm have 3.55 stock so they won't really cut it. Where is everyone getting the regear done too? Most of the shops around here won't touch gears. I did my mustangs myself but would rather have these installed professionally. Anyone on the east coast that'll do it? Mainly in pa

I'm not sure what everyone else re-gears to but I run stock 3.73 gears with 35's but if I had the chance I'd run 4.10's if you don't have an ecoboost or 5.0 I'd go a bit lower.

As for rubbing. I have a 6in BDS with 35x12.5 r 18 and -4 offset. When I hit a decent enough bump or just coming in and out of the parking lot with my wheels turned my tires rub on the back felt/plastic at the rear of the front tire. Just had to trim that a bit and you will have to trim the front valance for sure.

I hope this helps you out a bit.

I'm running the 5.0 with 3.55s. My superduty was over 800hp so I wasn't wasn't worried about regearing. Guess. Could see how bad it is first with the 3.55s then go from there.

When I bought mine, the absolute must have was a 5.0 and 3.73s. I do like the fact you can get an Eco w/ 4.10s but I could not find one anywhere. Still not sure I woulda bought it but it woulda made me think. Re-gearing is a HUGE expense. A buddy of mine put it to me like this, it costs so much that if you're going to do it, you should probably be making a substantial change (i.e. not going up one size from 3.55 to 3.73). I re-geared my jeep and it was about $1600. I have no clue if you do re-gear how that would affect the factory e-locker... I didn't want to find out.

Said all that to say this, if you are going to change, I would go at least two sizes up (4.10 or 4.56). Otherwise, I just don't see it being worth the time and money. I run 295/60 terras and my truck pulls them just find. I had a 06 GMC 1500 w/ the 5.3 & 3.73s. I put 33.5" Nitto trails on it and that thing was constantly searching for a gear. It was so bad I would leave it in Tow/Haul if I was at or above highway speeds. From experience, you do not want a truck that does that because it will make your engine rev constantly which will kill your engine and gas mileage.

Good luck, it won't be, or at least shouldn't be cheap but will be worth it.

I am running 5.0 with 3.55s and fun country 37s. 5.0 handles this without issue with six speed auto ( I have 4.10 on shelf for springtime install).gearing is limited to 4.10 for 2011 plus f150s due to pinion bearing size increase. alot of trimming will be required with that much offset.

Sorry it took so long to respond. Just seen the mention from Davidscholt822 I have a rcx 6 " with 35's on 20x9 with a -12 offset. They rubbed a little in the front( I had already trimmed some when I was leveled with 33's). I just installed bilstein 5100's in the front set at 1.5". No rub at all after that. Then I put on the 20x12's. started rubbing again. Lol. Just in the front on the lower valance. Trimmed some more, and now I'm good. Hope this helps.

By the way, I'm running the factory 3.55 gears and have had no problems at all. I have a cai, exhaust, and sct tune. Just made a 4 hr trip to Lafayette and she did fine.
