Prior to doing this, the truck was a bit of a dog - mostly due to early shifting - now it knows there are bigger tires...so it's shifting appropriately and the speedo is dead-on. Because I don't tow much, and my truck is a bit of a pavement queen, I decided to save the <$2K.

hmm, i'll ask about this next week, I did ask to get it recalibrated to correct the speed after I lifted, but I checked my invoice last night and I don't see it written down anywhere...time to go for a drive with my hand held gps and check out the speed

but you're saying the raptor settings are different from what I already did??

right now the performance is acceptable, noticeable loss after the big tires but not that bad...I notice it searching for gears uphill and into a wind

I'll tow the boat a few times first and go from there, if I do regear sounds like 4.56 is the way to go

thanks for all the input

Dont do the "raptor settings". Look up on your specific tire manufacturers website and find the exact revs/mile value of your specific tire size. Thats the number they will use to re-calibrate.

I ran 35's on my last f150 without ever re-gearing and had no problems. Then i moved up to 38's just temporary till i got a new truck and i never re-geared. Truck lasted about 6k miles before it needed a new transmisson. So anything over 35 i would regear. Oh, and i tow a lot.

I "believe" ford will only recalibrate to a factory option size. but you can always use a tuner.

I do think some of the complaints from not re-gearing (specifically with the 6speeds) has a bit to do with not correcting the speedo and shift points. I'm all for re-gearing and I think it's the best option but outside of just starting out (and with that low gear in the 6 speed shouldn't be a huge problem) your transmission can take over... maybe you don't use 6th until 65 or something but who cares if the effective gearing is correct for the speed.

went for a drive with my gps last night, at 100km on the dash, my gps says I'm doing 108...so it seems I need to ask for that again....

can any garage with proper equipment re calibrate ? or is ford dealership only type of thing

guess I'll find out Tuesday when I'm there

I think I just need to get myself a tuner, local dealer is frustrating, said they will only recalibrate to largest stock tire option ?

any opinions on sct tuners vs the evolution cs tuner? easiest to use for a non mechanic would be a selling feature lol

As far as a tuner goes, i have the SCT Livewire TS. Link http://www.sctflash.com/products.php?PID=67

Only tuner ive used, but the large touch screen makes it easy to select tire revs/mile and any other settings without going through tons of menus and screens. I have no complaints.
