yea, I busted my passenger side mirror prying it off after I successfully did the drivers side. At least it was the cheap one that broke, that doesnt happen to me very often, haha!

This keeps you from breaking the mirrors even by accident. I know at least one guy dropped his mirror and another broke the dam tab that holds it in place. The method outlined here avoids all the risky parts.. At least seems a lot easier to me...

Where did you get the led strip at again? and you just basically tap into the wires for the rear facing blinker right?

Got the led strip at autozone for 15.95 they have several colors I did bright white. And yes you just tap in to the led lights in the mirror..
Here is a link:

I think im gonna do this and make them parking lights as well. i found for 2011 the parking fuse is #30 on the interior kick panel, so ill use a jumper fuse to that spot and then run my wires to the mirrors and make them running lights as well as blinkers.

but where should i do my resistors and diodes at? inside the cab? or would those components be ok to do in them mirror, they woudl be exposed to the elements.

Ill post pics!

*fyi* 2010 park lamps fuse is #22

You can do it in the mirror, however if you have the puddle lights (I dont) if teh puddle lights are on with the running lights you could tie in to that... Use heat shrink or liquid tape on your connections should be good to go...

hmm you have a good point there with the puddle lights. i think they come on with the parking lamps, but i dont think they are on when the truck is moving and you have your headlights on. which is what i am after.

I found this online and i think it would work with a relay as well. I edited it a bit from its original form, but tell me if you think that is sound. and do you think one relay would be able to handle both mirrors?

*edit* i think im gonna do it this way, but Im curious to as know if i should put a resister on the 12v from the parking lamp to make it dimmer than the turn signal? I guess ill have to play and see.

Yes use a resistor to make it dimmer... I think 500 ohm is enough or try 270 ohm.. One relay should do both adequately as the LED bulbs are very low draw. Search iamsuperbleeder and he has done this already so I know he has a little blackbox circuit he designed from Radio Shack... He has a video here somewhere as well.....
