Redrilling Wheels vs Wheel Adapters
I ordered new wheels in August, and they've been on backorder the whole time. The manufacturer keeps saying 4-6 weeks. I'm tired of waiting.
Well, I've now found the wheel I want, but it's a Chevy lug pattern instead of the 6x135 that I need. The wheel shop said they redrill them all the time and have never had any issues. They also said they won't charge me any extra to do it.
On the other side, I've wanted more stance (negative offset- wheels/tires sticking out more) out of my truck, and considered doing a wheel spacer anyway. (Maybe just an inch or so) So I could just get an adapter and that would fix the lug pattern problem and it would give me another 25mm or so of stance. So, I'm wondering if there are any wheel guys on here who have seen this, and whether you'd recommend doing the redrill or just getting adapters.
Thanks in advance!

MOST aftermarket wheels are already drilled for chevy and f150 as they are close in spacing.

wait. what?
in the Focus ST community lots of people re-drill wheels because those cars have a weird lug pattern. I've never seen one fail, granted they weigh half as much and don't do any offroading or towing. wheel spacers are fine as long as you get quality hub-centric ones but if you do a 1" spacer you'll probably have to trim your stock wheel studs. and putting the wheel out that much farther will cause more strain on the hub and steering components.

There's probably a lot of difference in torque being applied by my truck vs your 88 Ranger. Lol
I also tow a 6k lb boat, so I don't need wheels busting on me.
But like I said, the bore size is different, so I'm not getting the wheels.
