Just bought a 2013 with the 5.0. I want to make it loud and sound as close to a Mustang as possible at lowest cost. Would a single flow master work to make it loud? Would a cherry bomb be better? Any computer problems with changing out the muffler?

Thanks!

do you want loud or do you want it to sound like a mustang?

the mustangs sound the way they do because of dual exhaust and a cross over pipe.
you can have a local shop do it or order the parts online. its not going to be under $700 to do it w/ quality parts.

no computer problems from changing your muffler. go to youtube and listen to sound clips of all the different mufflers. then pick the one you like the best. flowmaster has a few different mufflers with different tones.

I put a Flowmaster 40 on my 2013 with the 5.0. It is quite loud in the cab when shifting through the gears and quiets down after it hits the next gear. Any suggestions about how to make less noise in the cab? Before this site erupts with "you should have listened to the Flowmaster sound bits", and "their web site said it would be loud in the cab............" I knew before I did it it would be loud in the cab. I am just asking has anyone found anything to quiet the sound in the cab? I have 3 inch single exhaust, and stock cat. I actually would like it to be louder and rumble more, but just out the a-s end. Quieter in the cab is my question.
Thanks!

Ha yeah Flowmaster is known for being intrusive. Best I can tell you is open the door panels and install some sound deadening material. It might help a bit but unfortunately unless you spray under the truck with a layer of sound insulating material...it is what it is.

So your goal is a loud ass truck that only annoys those around you?

I've had 6 different dual exhausts trying to do the exact same thing. None of them came close to that sweet, not too loud, performance sounding exhaust.
My favorite setup on the last truck, ended up being a Magnaflow turned into a single pipe with no tip, out the side like the factory. A quiet low rumble.
That actually came the closest. Only by my decision that I was done with rusting tips and mufflers rotting in two years.
Lesson learned... in New England, it's all stainless or leave the factory alone.

Being annoyed is an opinion of the person being annoyed. I like a loud, rumbling sound. I like the sound of a Mustang. I liked the sound of my 63 Impala with the 409 and cherry bombs. I do not want to annoy anyone, and that is not my purpose. Playing Beethoven loudly would annoy me. A great sounding vehicle does not.

I have duals with an xpipe and dual 40s and i personally love the sound its very aggressive though the 5.0s are definitely louder than my old 4.6 but similar engine design so they might sound similiar and i do get some drone right at 2k

Another Question

Now that I driven quite a bit with my current exhaust setup I am wondering if the "drone" in the cab comes from under the truck at the muffler or if it resonates into the cab because it is loud at the tailpipe? Would a single in-dual out have less drone? Would Magnaflow be quieter in the cab? I cannot do true duals because of the gas tank......
The benefit of this site is that people have had the same experience with their truck. They have tried stuff that worked, and stuff that did not work. As said in my previous post I want it loud out the back and as little, if any drone in the cab. My truck sounds really good now, just want a little more rumble.
My questions are really asking for opinions from those that post here. Everyone has different opinions and that is to be respected.
Thanks!:)
