Default Hate to ask, but I have a question about leveling kit

I know this has been beat to death on here, but I have a concern about installing a leveling kit on my 2013 5.0 crew 4x4. I bought a rough country 2.5" leveling kit and after reading all these post about damaging the EPAS during disassembly kinda has me second guesing doing it. I'm more than mechanically capable to install it. I've read the intructions and it says to disconnect the EPAS proir to disassembly and to reconect after all the work is completed. Is there still a risk of damaging the EPAS even if it is disconnected? How many of you have successfully installed their leveling kit and haven't had any issues afterwards?? I'm new to the forum, but have found a bunch of good information on here. Thanks for any advice.

Leave this place now. No more leveling questions. J/K dude. Is there a reason you wanna go with a 2.5? You will be nose high. Anyways, not sure what EPAS is but just pay to have it done. It doesn't cost that much. Then you don't have to worry about it.

EPAS is your electronic power assist steering. It can go wonky if you don't disconnect it.
PondJumper is right though, I am mechanically able as well, but for the peace of mind- I just paid a small amount to have my dealer install it- it's a "legal" mod, so if they install it they typically won't deny warranty because of it. Typically.

I got the 2.5" because Rough Country had it in the scratch and dent section for $45. I thought that was cheap enough and would determine what to do with the rear after installing the front. I would like to stick some 315/70R17's under it,but I'm probably just going to go with a 305 or 295 on a 17" wheel.

go with the 315/70/17s, i did and they only rub a little on the sway bar at full lock on stock 17x7.5 wheels. those tires alone get you 2.25" more clearance under your axles , added to the 2.5 inches of body clearance from the leveling kit, you r now ready for some serious offroading and you are starting to look pretty badass!

I am not really convinced about disconnecting the battery when installing the spacers. Quite a few on here in the EPAS problem thread never installed spacers and yet have the EPAS issue.

I just unplugged the epas, two plugs and 30 seconds. If you have the tools it's an easy diy job. I recommend an impact gun because that lower strut bolt is on tight. I used a breaker bar with jack handle on the end for more leverage and it was sketchy and still a pita to break loose.

I have all the tools that is necessary to handle the install. Air and hand tools so that is no problem. If I can get away with it I want to run a 315/70R17 on a 17x8 wheel made by Ultra called Maverick. I'm not going to pay somebody to install it for me when I can do it myself. I'm just concerned about damaging the EPAS since it appears to be a common issue. Just trying to find out how many people have actually done the job them selves and weather or not they had trouble with it and if there is something other than just uplugging the EPAS to help prevent any damage.

I installed a 2" AS on my 2012 on boxing day (Froze my **** doing it LOL) . I disconnected the battery to save my EPA. First side took 3 hours and I had a hard time seating the strut back in. Ended up needing my brother's help prying it back in. Did the other side in less than an hour, and managed to pry it in myself.

Like everything the first time is a PIA but the second was easy. Got it leveled yesterday it looks great....Pics soon
