now that i think about it my 3rd brake light is a smoked bully brand led that i spray tinted darker because it looked clear compared to recons light. my first recon 3rd brake light had burnt out led's so i sent it back and got a new one...same thing happend to it and i havent botherd sending it back since i live in canada it costs alot to ship back and forth. like i said im done with lights lol

EDIT- ill let u know if i figure anything out. also i know other people havent had the problems iv had with theirs, so chances are yours will just be plug and play and the most u might have to add a few resistors.

I got Recon Tails and it was just plug and play for me. I purchased LED reverse light bulbs to match my 3rd brakelight but havent had any issues with hyperblinking. I know that when you put LED bulbs in a regular turn signal it will need resistors because of the low draw of power but i didnt think the Recons tails would.

I just noticed that my 3rd brake light doesn't get brighter or change colors when braking, it is white LEDs all of the time. Is this normal?

Update: just spoke to Recon and they said they are going to take care of me with the 3rd brake light

the two 3rd brake lights that went bad on me had three dead leds in center that are supposed turn on with the brakes are applied. after i told him the second one they sent me went bad he told me it was something to do with my truck because he has never seen two lights go bad..i would keep an eye on your replacement light
