Default Recon third brake light install

I received my new third brake light, and I have a dumb question.

It needs to be hard wired due to the ford plug being patented.

If I cut of the existing light harness to wire the new light, would it be as simple to re-wire the stock harness if I ever wanted to switch back.

I ask because I have had problems with some of the wire splicing connectors I have used in the past.

I realize this is a dumb question, just concerned about cutting off the harness.

There are a couple threds out there going over this, but the easiest way is just to use splice connectors then wrap the whole thing. Then you don't have to worry about cutting the ford plug off. Hope that helps.

Did you use a new gasket during the install? The ceiling of my truck was leaking water and I found that the third brake light cover gasket was falling apart and letting water in through the roof. Had to use so silicon to seal it up.
