Can I ask where you checked your VIN number? I was looking for that option.

But no reimbursement of replacements previously done? Just replaced mine after i was stranded alongside the road over Christmas. Also should reimburse me for a new pair of shorts

I have the notice. Just wondering if I'm truly affected because I have an aftermarket tune. Don't know whether to reflash to stock and have it fixed. Then I'd of course have to retune it but I don't know if the tunes would redo what they're fixing. I'll wait for one of the tuning companies to chime in.

When these same symptoms happened in 2013 or 2014, they were replacing lead frames as they failed, per a TSB. Same tranny and same model year range. I'm guessing there are now many more problems stacking up from this same issue, but rather than a hardware replacement which would cost more, they are changing the software so it reacts different when the hardware fails. Then we'll be still paying for parts and labor when the hardware fails but there will be no accidents.

I was wondering this very thing. I do not know a lot about the lead frame issue but what little I have read about it seemed to indicate that replacement of the lead frame was the solution. I was curious about how Ford was addressing a hardware issue with a software update. I would imagine what you are saying is correct. They obviously are not addressing the potential part failure but are instead modifying how the transmission will respond in the event of the failure (I’m assuming here). It’s the easy way out but personally I’ll take it. I will worry much less about my truck going into neutral or limp mode or whatever else they are going to program it to do than I have been worriying about my truck downshifting to first gear at 70 mph.

yeah mine`sa 2012 has had this recall for while, its issue with speed senor in the tranny, when it gets dirty and flakes out and the PCM doesn`t know what speed the tranny is going, then shifts all the way down to first gear, I got my letter last week for it. thats why i ahve held off getting a custom tune since the strategy code will change.
