I just bought a new 2010 Lariat supercrew 4x4 5 days ago. We have been getting a lot of rain lately, and I notice that when I hit a puddle of water, a weird sound resonates from underneath the truck. I don't know if its normal, or if the sound is water hitting the skid plates underneath. It seems like the sound is more noticeable when I hit a puddle with the right front tire. It kinda sounds like water hitting a metal pipe. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Was the sound like a hollow swooshing sound?

Kinda, its sounds similar to spraying a hollow pipe. I'm pretty ****, so most people might not think much of it. LOL

Jesus Christ, it's just the normal sound of water hitting the truck.

It's probably just the tube steps. Mine make a hollow sound when I hit water puddles on the road. Kinda like beer bottle whistle. On my previous truck, I had Nasta stainless tubes. When rocks would hit them, it would scare the sh*t outta me cause they made a loud "donnnnnng" sound. Just the right resonance I guess.

Its just the water hitting your running boards or skid plates, I noticed the same thing driving through some deep water

You'd see lights on your dash if it was traction control

Thanks for the feedback. The only reason I even thought twice about it was because I only noticed the sound when I hit some puddles on the right side of my truck. Everytime I hit a puddle on the left side, I didn't notice it. Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

it's a long stretch, but do you hear the sound if it isn't raining? I had the same problem one time... ended up the seal on the window was bad and I had a few inches of water in the door. Luckily it was a work truck, with no power in the door. it was an 04 ranger, but window seals will leak
