Same thing happened to me 2 days ago. Ford is denying a claim. If they don't step up it will be my last Ford as much as I like my truck.
Apparently windows don't just break on their own, so I somehow must have hit it with something from the driver seat.
Guess my arms are longer than I thought they were.

 

I'd be really pissed if mine did that and they denied warranty.

Plus if you have the heated glass with the electric window the cost is compounded. They're aware of the issue. Idk how they can say you hit it if its a known occurrence.

 

After reading this thread I decided not to ever use the rear window defrost or heated mirrors. Sucks to have them but don't need the headaches

 

Me too lol. Not worth the hassle. Hope it doesn't happen on my 2010.

 

I've posted this a few times but you can remove the fuse for the rear defrost and the heated mirrors will still work. This is what I did so I don't have to worry about a shotgun blast from my rear window and I can still use my heated mirrors.

 

If that happened it would get towed to the dealer - and there's no way in hell they would believe I did it.

Idk how that startle mixed with rage of having to deal with it wouldn't convince them that this happened on its own...

 

I had mine explode over the holidays we had some pretty cold nights up in northern ontario I had never really needed to use this option on my truck but the glass was pretty frosty..

I took it to My local dealer on dec 30th and explained to them that I read online that alot of people were having this issue with the passenger side glass exploding and that some were getting warranty.
he took some pictures and fired them off to the ford warranty division. In the mean time I messaged the Ford rep from this forum for a heads up, hoping that would help my case.

Got a call from my dealer this morning apprently my 2011 with 43000km which still has the basic warranty coverage is to old and high mileaged for any assistance..

Your glass blew out or you were just asking for an "in case" scenario?

If it happened then I see tour frustration.

 

My glass blew out. Im currently driving around with black duct tape holding the glass together.

These pwr/ht/tinted glass assemblies are stupid expensive!! I find it odd that they designed this as a sealed unit. The middle slidding glass can be replaced but the the 2 stationary side glasses are replaced with the sealed assembly. Close to a grand for it in Canada...

I think the dealer is jerking you around. My dealer had the OK from Ford within a couple hours and I have an '11 with 20K miles. Your's is only about 7K more in Miles.

Go to another dealer.
