Just disconnect the wire to the element & tape it off - you will be fine - not worth the aggravation
Think it was all 09+ models but most are 2010

Well you can add me to the list , same exact thing power slider 2010 150 passenger side rear . happened this summer , went out and the dew was all over the windows and mirrors , hit the defrost button , got about a half mkle from the house and bam!. Called the insurance co cause i didnt know this was an issue. They came out and replaced the glass, HOWEVER , the guys told me that a new style electrical connector came with it and they would not install it, and i would have to take it to the dealer . I have been so busy i still havent had time to do this . So today i figured i would look up how to get the rear seat back out and do this myself, thats when i came upon this thread. I will try and post a pic later showing the new connector , It has 3 wires the old only has 2

this is my original post from august
Default 2010 fx4 rear defroster
left for work the other day, the mirrors were fogged up so i turned on the rear defroster, got down the road about a mile or so and heard a loud pop like some one hit the side of the truck with a ball or something. Well, there was nobody else on the road so i figured maybe i hit something in the road. Anyway i get to work and the passanger side of the rear window ( i have the electric slider) was shattered. call the glass company and they come out and replace it but the tell me that ford has come out with a new connector that has 3 wires (the old one only has 2) and the guy says i'll have to go to ford to get it hooked up. Can anyone tell me where the wires go? Is one just a ground? where do i ground it if so? Any help would be appreciated thanks .

Also wanting to know if the connector can be retrofitted to my original window so I can use my rear defroster without shattering.

I have been searching on here to see if the window exploding issue was fixed for the 2013's but haven't been able to find anything saying either way. I was going to pull the fuse but the book also says it runs the heated mirrors.

okay, i got the rear seat out and the new connector will fit perfectly into the fixed connector on the rear of the cab under the window heres the problem. the new connector has 3 wires, there is only 2 wires coming off of the window, the heavy black one, and the yellow which seems to have a resistor heat shrinked into it. The new connector has the heavy black one and a smaller black and white. So where do the wires GO ??? there is 3 wires feeding the fixed connector on the back of the cab. anybody have any idea ? help me out ford repair wizards !!

last update before i put it back together and take it to the dealer for a good porkin. i believe the connector on the new window is a 2 wire that came with the window the blue connector came with the window that exploded. the 2 smaller terminals in the connector on the back of the cab have 14volts when the truck is running the larger terminal must be a ground. so why would the new window come with a 2 wire connector when the old window had a 3 wire connector??????

I just checked my window for you. there are only 2 wires coming out of the connector on mine and going into the harness if that helps..
