Default Went to the Dyno...Bone stock 4.6l 3v and I am pleased

TNathe's 2010 4.6L 3v Stock Dyno Sheet

So just got back from getting a baseline dyno pull done so I can start measuring performance gains. I am pretty pleased with the results.
Factory crank hp for the 2010 4.6 3v engine is 290hp. Anything over 235 and I would have been ok with.

In 96* heat she put down 260HP and 280 ft/lbs torque.

Now I can start with the bolt-ons!

good numbers. How many miles do you have on the truck?

Thanks fellas. 98000 miles now. Truck has been great and given me no issues. About to run out of my 100k warranty thus the time for warranty voiding upgrades is upon me. Lol.

I hate to be the one to tell you but those numbers aren't anywhere near accurate! This is why....

Your Truck - 4.6L 290HP/???TQ @ Crank & 260RWHP/280RWTQ For A Total Powertrain Loss of 30HP/??TQ
5 Stars Truck - 5.0L 360HP/380TQ @ Crank & 271RWHP/290RWTQ For A Total Powertrain Loss of 90HP/90TQ

So basically a 5.0L that makes 70 MORE HP than you at the crank only makes 10HP more than you at the wheels.

Once you get that intake installed you should be near EcoBoost numbers

Some good numbers for the 4.6... Curious what my 5.4 would do.

Depends on the Dyno, they all read different, not so much about the numbers as for monitoring gains or losses from changes. 5 star has always stated their Dyno shows lower numbers than other brands of Dyno.

yeah I was thinking it may be reading a little high. Like 5.0GN tow said though, as long as I go back to this same dyno after mods I should be able to accurately measure gains.

Maybe my motor is a freak?! lol doubt it...

Or do what performance guys do! Bring it to the track! 1320 times don't lie, you can make a dyno read anything!

My 4.6 with 3 v is at 332k kilometres and doesn't use a drop of Mobil 1 , 5w20.

Ticks a bit when cold, I should send Ford a nasty letter.

Exhaust manifolds are the only weak link, mmmm performance exhaust might be worth going after.
