Best or most cost-effective? Bilstein 5100's get my vote for most bang for the buck. It all depends on what your needs and expectations are though.

From the dealer get the shocks that come on the HDPP 150's. I have the 2013 HDPP and the shocks are heavy duty compared to the standard ones you have and don't cost to much more.

Are the 5100's for stock 2wd height or are they for lifted applications only? I thought that the plain yellow Bilsteins are for stock 2wd's.

I have a '13 4WD which I lowered by removing the lift blocks. I'm running 5100's for a 4WD even though the truck now sits like a 2WD. I have had ZERO issues with this set up. Nothing bottoms out. The truck is mostly a "road warrior" and only sees off road when I drive down a gravel road or driveway. The difference between the 5100's and the stock garbage that came off the truck is night and day.

what ever brand, make sure it is mono shock tube. double piston shocks are what comes on our truck and they are weak. Bilsteins or Rancho MT7000s are both mono shocks.

Default Bilstein 5165 Rear Offroad Shocks

I have the Bilsein 5165 rear shocks and love them.

Easy install and work great. These are available in various lengths depending on your lift if you have one.
