Default Rear Ford oval emblem (with camera). Any nuts on back?

2011 FX4 with OEM rear camera.

How is it attached?

Adhesive only like side F150 emblems?
Adhesive plus clips, but no nuts, like rear F150 emblems?
Nuts from the back that require tailgate inner panel removal?

And while we are at it, same question for the front Ford oval emblem?

Actually, I just found a few photos by "fivefiftysix" in a rear camera installation thread...

It looks like the bezel is held on with screws, but from the outside rather than inside the tailgate.

So now the question is how do I pull the blue top oval off to access those screws??

IIRC, the shop manual says that removing it breaks the tabs so you have to replace it. If that's the case, I'd just put it back on with some 3M tape.

What'cha doin' with your camera?

Kind of funny. I just pried it off with one of my soft trim removers, broke the tabs, and thought, no problem, just put it back with some 3M tape!

The tabs are very fragile, I don't see any possibly way of removing it without breaking those little tabs. A replacement emblem is only $14 at Tasca, so no biggie if the tape doesn't work.

Why am I pulling it? I want to paint the bezel underneath satin black (along with all the F150 badges). Personally, I prefer to not do the painting on the truck.

After this, there will be zero chrome on the truck, except for the Ford logo badges themselves. If only I could still get the Patriot badge overlays with the Ford logo, the look would be complete. Haven't decided what my alternative really is.

Any ideas?

Scuffed, washed in dawn to remove any release agent still on the plastic, cleaned with alcohol. Ready for a coat of Bulldog adhesion promoter and SEM satin trim paint!

Overkill on the prep? Probably...

PFBZ, any luck with tape holding the emblem back on the camera bezel?

Bump...

I am also interested in this. How did it hold up?

Does anyone know if the front ford oval is removable from the grille?

I plan on taking both off and plasti dipping them.

Thanks.

Perfect. This is what I plan to do to my new truck. This is the only Chrome on the truck and I hate it.

yes the oval is a one time use part and yes it breaks when you remove it. a replacement is only around $20 or so. apparently the escape has the same size oval and they are prone to fading. when i ordered mine they asked what year escape i had

I just did all my logos emblems and door handles as well. wheels are next. here are some pics. Handles were chrome swapped out with paint to match.
