We should also ban manual transmissions, all electronic devices including radios, climate control, and power windows. Anything that could possibly cause you to take your eyes away from straight ahead for one split-second should be banned! All a vehicle should have is an automatic gear shift, pedals, steering wheel, and speedometer.

All auto transmissions should be banned. Manuals should be required by law. It could prevent the idiots from getting from behind the wheel.

While I don't totally agree with that, I think you should be required to know how to drive one but I believe that should be a preference on what you personally drive.

Why? I know how to drive a manual but why should it be required when most cars now are auto?

Just as a basic skill set and in case of an emergency.

My friend is from south africa. He said when he took his driving test, manual was mandatory. They don't let you take the test witu an auto.

i drive for a living and have several 100,000 safe at fault accident free miles behind me and the amount of stupid things i see is staggering, smokers are the worst watch a smoker dig for their fix, they weave all over the place and god forbid they drop it. and yes not all smokers litter but we all know that the vast majority do. i don't text and drive, i do use a hands free. i have personally witnessed death due to distractions, so if you don't agree with my opinions thats fine, but please respect them and i will respect yours.

I have several hundred thousand accident free miles as well as several hundred thousand incident free miles running a train. Smoking while driving is no more dangerous than you digging through your Mcdonalds bag for those French Fries you admit to eating while driving. Do I smoke.. No... Do I think banning of everything while driving is ridiculous... yes. Just like smokers litter so do people eating fast food while driving. Should we ban that too? How about we just ban driving all together? IMO teenage girls with cell phones are by far the worst drivers, I saw a young female going down the highway on a scooter texting not too long ago. While I agree with you that distracted drivers are a problem, I think you're way out of scope in regards to banning smoking and driving. Cheers.

Good excuse to get an ADD bumper and no serious body damage. Get whiplash payout too. We'll all be in driverless cars soon enough!
