last time I dealt with this warranty run around BS was in my younger days while in the Navy. Bought a new Renault (stop laughing). PO-& just one headache afternoter. Had checked in WA state under warranty. Drive to Corpus Christi to get fixed and it was like 36,050 miles on car. Dealer said out of warranty should him the fire hazard and problems at 34K miles from dealership.

Well lets just just say don’t tick off a Young Navy Seabee. I did manage to rip into the regional director and told him it’s BS

tneu finally fixed it. Still more bugs. But sold it when I moved to Bahrain. What a pain.

Will chedk info on tje glass. Auto glass place here has 1/2 off special.

Just got off the phone with the Ford regional customer service manager...........

He advised I take it to another dealer and see what they say. WTF? He did admit it was covered only if it was determined to not be caused by outside sources. I told him first dealer diagnosed it as faulty wiring. He said he'd try and contact my dealer's service department and would get back to me in a week. A week? One five minute phone call could take care of this problem.

I had to ask him a lot of questions about the situation. Reading between the lines it sounds like this is really between me, the dealer and the Ford ESP people (who already said it should be covered). Uggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg gh!

This just keeps getting better........

Dealership just called to tell me, after talking with Ford, that it's not covered under my ESP plan because it's glass and they won't cover glass. He then said Ford would kick in some money the dealership would kick in some money and I'd have to pay $300 out of pocket to make this happen when it's clearly stated in the warranty that HEATED BACK GLASS is covered and my deductible is $100. After pointing out the glaringly obvious info stated in the warranty paperwork he said he'd call Ford back and see if they'd kick in more money so I only have to pay my $100 deductible. What a crock of ****!

Had the same problem on my 2012 XLT. No dash light. Switch works fine, power to the rear connectors. Shined up the contacts. No good. Fooled with this on and off since last winter. Finally I called my auto insurance broker and he said I have full glass coverage with no deductible. Local glass shop picked up the power slider from the dealer and installed it. Works great.
Dealer wanted $900 BS!

not sure what is in my auto insurance, may be worth a look. Glass wasn’t too bad for price. The BS labor. Like they are worth or getting 90 bucks an hour.
Necer hurts to ask. I have Safeco. Haven’t used them yet. (Knock on wood)

If you are out of warranty you might try cleaning the contacts and resetting the tension on the springs to see if that fixes the issue.

If you do not have a rear slider, you might want to take a conductive paint pen (Autozone has them) and go over all of the traces with it.

Otherwise, you might be able to use the mirror only option, if you disconnect the rear defroster altogether. Depending on the module that you have, it might work.

Good luck.
I have to check voltage to my rear window, but I obvious have some missing/damaged "grids" on the passenger side. (not sure why). like they just fell/burnt or caked off.

IF just continuity issue, and I can make it look "decent" and functional, Im happy- I don't use it much here in SC, and rely on my sliding window to clear the "foggy" area"

Trying to find options to repair this grid vice 6=800$ I am getting quoted for mirror replacement. Tnx

Just another update to my ongoing rear window story.....

This past Monday the regional customer service manager called me back to confirm what the service manager had told me......that the repair would be split three ways......so $300 for me. I asked him why it's not covered and he said he didn't know and I should talk to warranty people as it's not really his thing.

Searched around on the internet and got hold of a gal on chat at Ford warranty. She gave me the number to the "Prior Approval" people at Ford warranty. Called the number. Very nice guys says "sure, we run into this a lot. Those windows go bad or break". Explained my situation to him and he said he didn't see a problem getting it covered under my ESP. Gave me a reference number and told me to have the dealer call them with the number. This way the warranty people can walk the dealer through the process.

I've left two messages with the service manager this week and havn't heard back. Monday I'm going to go up there in person and get this taken care of.

Thanks. It's just extremely sad that the person who actually knows what's going on and points me in the right direction is the chat line girl. You would think that between the service writer, service manager and the regional customer service manager someone could have put a modicum of effort into looking into this. Instead I was told "NO" at every turn. It's not like this particular dealership is small, they have several, it's located in a large city. I think the service manager has twenty plus years working for Ford service. The service writer appeared to have some experience under his belt as well.
