Default Rear defroster not working

My rear window has been acting up. Just yesterday I turned it on and the left side of the window exploded.. Going to see if I can get the truck into the dealer tomorrow...

So are they replacing the window with an updated better version or are they just putting in a new window that will eventually fail like the original?

I noticed that my window was actually quite different than the one that they took out. The tint was still there, but the glass looked to be clearer and the sliding window works a lot smoother.
Dealer told me the TSB part number was different than the original part number. Not sure if it is a better and improved window, but it definitely is a different window.

Hi all, I finally got around to do some more testing and looking around. I removed the tabs on each side and tested the ohms. I got .834. However, I'm not sure if this is good or not. I reconnected the tabs and then inspected and re-seated the blue connector. Turned on the truck and started the defrost (still no light that came on on the dash button). Mirrors started heating so I then check to see if there was voltage at the tabs and nothing. I then disconnected the blue connector and verified for voltage there and nothing. I'm now completely puzzled. On the blue connector there's 3 wires. One that is bigger then the 2 others and black (I'm guessing that this one feeds the voltage), then there's 2 smaller ones (black and white). I'm guessing that these 2 smaller ones are for a sensor of some sort since they go inside the window seals. Does anyone know if the ohms are right and know anything on these 2 smaller wires? And what else can I check?

Mine doesn't work. Light on the button doesn't even illuminate. I believe there is a TSB out there for those with this same problem...Or maybe it's just a fuse lol guess I should check that.

It's more than likely not a fuse. I took mine in today and they are ordering a new back window for mine. Looks like a common problem from what I've read.

I had to cancel my appt. That's why I haven't reported back.
I can report. In the few days that passed, they gave my window away. Even though, they knew I was going to call to reschedule in 2/3 days.
So now I wait again.

I just had my whole rear window replaced on my 2012 fx4 super crew under warranty. It seems to work a lot smoother and it looks a little different than the previous rear window. It took around 3 hours and that included my oil change and routine scheduled maintenance. I just beat my warranty deadline, apparently it's a defect or switch that stays on or something and it's in the window that's why it's a whole rear replacement.

Glad to hear that you all were able to get it replaced under warranty. I'm not going to be spending that kind of money just for the rear window defroster even if I paid for that upgrade when I bought the truck. Its just not worth it as long as I have my side mirror defroster.
