Rear blinker issue.

Hey all,

I'm having issues with my LEFT rear brake lights and turn signals. Truck is a 2011.

I have the fast blinker when turning left (right side is normal). I replaced both bulbs today which didnt fix the issue. I still have the fast blinker and they dont work.

When I use the key fob to lock or unlock the truck, the left lights seems to come on but are a little dimmer than the right. Also, when I lock the truck the left rear lights dont flash at the same time as the right ones and seem out of sync.

Anyone have any ideas on whats going on. Ive looked up some old threads and have some ideas but I wanted to see if anyone has had more recent luck.

Thanks

I would be looking at ground wires, sounds like it's feeding back on another line

I had a similar issue with my 2014, but i had no drivers side rear turn signals or brake lights, just parking. Took it to ford and there was some kind of wire issue between the fuse box on the passenger kick panel and the junction box for the wiring harness.

Any idea what grounds I should be checking?

I had the same issue on mine last month. Mine ended up being the connector that links the harness together right behind the spare tire came loose a little bit causing the wires not to connect properly. It's under the tailgate a little bit more to the driver side of the truck. I'd check that first just a slight touch to mine it started working.

I have the same issue. Fast flash left side, no rear left directional or brake light. Running lights ok.

Checked everything electrical (bulbs, connectors, grounds, etc). About ready to bring it to dealer to get ass raped.

Any luck with your yet?

It definitely sounds like your blinker fluid is low. Did you check this first?

I will check that connection today. Thanks for the reply.

No luck with mine. I am going to check the connection by the spare tire as the other post suggested. If that doesnt work then I am going to have to take it in. I still have the extended warranty on mine so hopefully its not to bad.

bring it to the dealer. I had exact same issue as all of the above. Dealer found wire that was either loose or broken, can't remember between the fuse panel in the passenger kick panel and the junction box or something like that. All is good now.

Pull the bulb out, rotate it 180* and plug it back in.

Why would that make a difference?

Guess I had led's on the brain when I posted, a diode is an electrical check valve that only allows current to flow in one direction.

Update:

So I took it Ford and they fixed it. When asked what the problem was they told me it was the BCM and it needed to be reprogrammed. The tech told me that sometimes the BCM will not read a circuit correctly and go into hyper-flash mode.

Hope this helps some people out there. This was a very frustrating issue.

Also, for people wondering what it cost me. It was 1 hour of shop time.
