My hood and roof (only) get like that from pollen. This time of year it's ragweed. It's worse in June and July with pine pollen.

It feels like fine sand on the paint and it's impossible to wax because the stuff keeps settling out of the air..

Interesting. I guess that is a possibility as well.

Maybe possible since the hood is aluminum that it's drawing some containment to itself or releasing something from the inside. I wouldn't worry about it. Just clay bar it every couple of months.

How do you know whether to use the Acid or Alkaline Neutralizer. Web site gives little info.

If it is rail dust it could have come from being shipped new to dealership on a train. I usually see these on the rears of vehicles however. Sounds odd being clayed and waxed recently and sitting in a garage.

It's a 3 step process. First you wash the truck with the acid. Then you use the alkaline neutralizer followed by regular car wash soap.

Well I finally got around to claybaring it today. I was really surprised about the amount of crud that was on the hood.

Once I made it around the truck I hit it with a coat of collinite 845 and its nice and smooth.
