Really ford?!?
As for mitigating damage from smash and grab break-ins, my old truck has a reinforced center console with a real [1] lock on it. It also has a burglar alarm on it (that is not made anymore these days) that immediately fills up the interior of the cab with fog (same stuff as clubs, but colored pink.) A car alarm going off, nobody cares about; a car billowing fog attracts a lot more attention.
This is why I'm looking for a secure toolbox for my new truck that uses hockey puck style locks. This way, a thief will need something more than a rock of crack and a crowbar to get the contents out.
[1]: If the lock isn't a Medeco, Abloy, or another top high security brand, find a way to replace it with one. Automotive locks are made for reliability and handling tends of thousands of insertion cycles regardless of elements (grit in the lock, moisture, etc.), as opposed to pick resistance.
