I verified it with my GPS. According to tirerack.com, the difference in the overall diameter of the 2 tires is only 2/10ths of an inch. I don't see the need to recalibrate, nor pay the dealer.

Of course not! That's an interchange size.

This is a very handy tool for those looking at different sizes: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

You have many options with normally aspirated engines. The most fun of which is tuners. (5star is good.) The ecoboost is the biggest problem child.

This is a great thread. I have a 2010 4.62v auto trans., 4x4, reg cab, shortbed. Door reads it came with 17", but when I bought it, it had fx4 18x 7.5" Ford alloy's and 285/55/18 tires. I'm sure the dealer did'nt recal the speedo, due to the closeness of overall diameter between the stock 17" and 18" tire size. Since the purchase, I've installed an AS 2.5" level kit and 285/75/18" Toyo Open Country A/T's with an alignment. My FORD DEALER says he can absolutely recal my speedo. I will be taking it in this week for the update. When I had the tires installed, the calculator showed the difference between the stock 17" and the new 18" tire size the be 8mph different on the speedo, so when the speedo shows 65mph, I'm really going 73mph, this recal is critical to me, since I am a commercial truck driver and don't have the luxury of traffic school, if I get a speeding ticket ! With the dealer doing the recal, I have peace of mind, and don't need to deal with an aftermarket tuner, unless I'm wanting other performance mods. I'd appreciate any of the Techs, and fellow members out there, to chime in on their conclusions and experiences, good and bad related to this threads discussion.

I prefer to just look at my GPS for speed. I always have it on anyway. Or since you know it's 8 mph over just remember to go 45 in a 55 and so on.

Did you ever get the chance to mess with and Eco and the ids and see how to get to the tires options?

I have and appointment tomorrow and would like to try and get the tech to change mine.

Thanks.

Nope, I've never had the chance. I haven't worked on a single one, I don't work on the Fords much anymore, I work on mobility vehicles doing different things to them.

My dealer has tried to work with Ford and we are still trying to sort this out. However, there seems to be something unique about the Ecoboost over the other engines/computers???? My dealer has also talked with Hypertech who is saying they have a brand new programer so my dealer is ordering one of those up just to try it out? We'll see what happens at the end of the week.....

Again, if anyone has really got this issue resolved for an EcoBoost, please ask your dealers for the written steps so the rest of us can give the details to our dealers so we can resolve this topic once and for all for the EcoBoosts. Thanks in advance.....
After setting tire size and or axle ratio they need to go to service functions and go to learn vehicle data if you don't then what your saying is happening, happens.

Subscribed. This thread is very helpful. Is there currently a recall on speedos on '10s?
