Default Re-Padding Center Console Lid

My 2009 Platinum console lid has taken a beating and the padding on the drivers side is broken down to wear my arm sits flush on the plastic under it. I am wanting to remove the factory skin and install more padding under it for support as I tend to rest my arm on it. Has anyone tackled this? How is the leather held to the plastic? Staples? Glue? Trying to determine since my leather looks great, padding is just shot if I need to replace or I can just add foam or replace foam.

Thanks!

Brady's no longer doing that work.
From what I can remember, there is no glue for the leather to the lid, but there might be some adhesive for the pad to the leather. Brady mentioned that stitching my factory cover was a PITA due to it sticking.

I haven't personally taken mine apart, just going of his few comments two years ago.

It was a side thing he was doing while in high school. Tried it his first semester of college and just couldn't keep up...I don't blame him for the focus on studies.

Apparently out of the same shop is a guy by the name of Calder that does lots of Raptor only stuff. Here's his site: http://www.raptorcustomembroidery.com/
Apparently he's struggling with the volume/need right now. Last I heard he was 3-4 weeks behind.

You could buy this and install it yourself, a few people here have bought and installed it.

What about it looks terrible to you? I've got the kit myself and did the install myself too. No judgement, just curious.

Stitching matches the factory and leather color and texture matches as well. It sits your arm up a bit higher and for me, gives me better posture and didn't realize that I was leaning a bit to the side until I had the thicker padding.

It certainly could be an easier project to install but I think mine looks great. Function is excellent too.

Worse case, just go to a local upholstery shop and they can make you something one off to your specifications.

I did take mine to an upholstery shop that I have been using for years to get exactly what I wanted. You could try that route.
