Another option is to use sheet plastic. I purchased two 12x12 sheets on ebay. Black, textured on one side. Can be heated with a small torch and bent to shape. The material is abs and can be glued w/pipe adhesive or hot glue. Cut a 2 inch strip an bend into a rectangle or two els and glue a bottom on it then bond in place to console opening. Once again hot glue works very well.

I'd agree with that, except fiberglass can be created without seams, and into much more irregular, and custom shapes. But for something like a simple tray with flat lines and square corners, kydex would be more than adequate!

Careful with a torch; Kydex is a thermoplastic acrylic and can bubble and distort easily with concentrated heat. It's best manipulated with about 300 degrees (if I remember correctly), but not much more than that, or it will rapidly deform. With a torch, it's very easy to get heat too concentrated. A heat-gun works well on concentrated areas, and you can actually put an entire sheet in an oven for general area heating.

Thanks fellas. Mastercct1 that is sweet! The wife and I were out shopping today and while we were at Dollar Tree I spotted some plastic drawer organizers, so I picked up a set (two for $2.00). They are 8 inches x 4 inches and they fit the hole perfectly. We then went to Lowes to get some flat black paint plus primer and JB Weld PlasticWeld. Do you guys think this will work?
