Default Ranting on Brakes

Okay, so usually when I do my brakes I get them turned. This truck is going to its 3rd set around when the odometer hits 90,000 miles. 54,000 miles on this second set. (stock discs and Autozone pads [I know, I know Autozone])

Now the truck finally got the shudders again but only above 65~70mph. (for 54,000 on stock rotors with being turned only once: not bad in my opinion.)

Anyways, I always read/hear "just buy new rotors, they do not cost much more than turning!"

WHERE DOES EVERYONE BUY SUCH CHEAP ROTORS???????
I pay $15 OTD to turn per rotor.
I bought new Warner E-Coated rotors on sale for $75+tax per rotor. 75/15=5 Original cost $100

5 times as much is NOT about the same

Am I missing some magical website??

I think they are comparing to mechanic cost for turning, not walk-in cost at a parts store.

It’s easier to buy new, not cheaper. You don’t have to take them in and wait for them to be turned. Then if they are under spec. You have to buy new any way.

They're likely embellishing a modest amount and shouldn't be taken literally.

$42 from Advance Auto, and use 30% off coupon over $50.

Two rotors for $65.

That's for the rear rotors which don't wear out as fast. The front rotors are $78 each.

The cost is relative to the time taking the rotors in and having them turned while being down until they are done then having to pick them up. Now, if you have two sets of rotors you could rotate them while one set is in getting turned.

Fair enough, for me the shop is only 5 minutes away and the nearest auto parts is 30.

The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low co$t is forgotten.
