Default Rain sensing wiper trouble

I recently purchased a 2010 Platinum with what seems to be rain sensing wipers. There is a sensor by the rear view mirror. I've cleaned the windshield well, but they won't work right. There's nowhere to adjust in the menus to turn them on and off. Any place on the switch when I turn them on wipes one time then stops. The low and high speed settings work fine, but intermittent/sensitivity settings do not. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I had the same problem, I unplugged the sensor on the windshield and wipers now work like normal wipers. I believe if you want the rain sensing function it would require a replacement sensor.

I chose to leave it alone and have normal wipers.

That's seriously all I have to do to get normal intermittent wipers?! That's awesome. Just unplug it at the mirror?

I had the rain sensing wipers on a previous vehicle and didnt care for them! I like to be in controll when things come on and go off, same as auto headlights!

Someone please explain the purpose of rain sensing wipers to me. IMHO it's one of the most stupid inventions ever on an automobile. If I'm ever too stupid to see it's raining, or too lazy to move my finger a couple of inches to turn on the wipers, god help me........

+1 - I have been complaining about mine since I got the truck. My wife thinks it is a great idea. I think it is a stupid idea.

X2, almost as redundant as the BLISS garbage they have on the 15, are people too stupid to use their mirrors these days? Next they will have an auto pilot feature for people too lazy to hold the steering wheel!

I had them for 5 years on a previous car and the only time I found them to have any value is when it was raining too light for the lowest intermittent setting. Not missing them on the truck.

I had them on a Grand Cherokee a few years ago. I thought they were nice. Anytime there was a light, unsteady rain, I really liked them. The only time they bothered me was when a bug hit at the sensor and immediately got smeared across the windshield.
