Radio Problems
Posted this in the General Section with no response, so here goes. Tried looking for some threads about a problem I'm having with the radio in my '13 F-150. Everytime I crank my truck if I have the usb playing before I shut it down, it will not come back up playing the usb. Same thing happens if I'm using the Sirius radio. About every third time I turn the truck on it comes back up on the regular radio and not what it went down on. Took it to the Ford place since it was still under warranty and they say it because the new radio doesn't have a constant power memory anymore. I say that they are full of it because it wouldn't be able to hold any radio station presets if it didn't. Any one having the same problem here and were you able to get it fixed?
Actually I do not know if what they say is true about no longer having a memory power wire anymore. But I do know it seems the radio no longer needs it cause if you disconnect your battery and leave it disconnected and reconnect it you still have all your radio channels stored. But you do have to reset clock and date so with that being said it has to have some sort of a power for memory.
It's the same in my '12. Shut it down listening to usb or blue tooth, comes back with line-in. If I listen to FM or XM, it will come back right where I had it. It sucks but I plan on replacing the whole stereo system down the road anyway. SYNC is the most hands-on "hands-free" stereo I've ever dealt with.

Same here with my Wifey's '13 Mustang SYNC system, and her '10 Mustang did it also. My Platinum has the MyFordTouch, and always comes back on where I left it. Kinda strange.
OP, I think the guy was right. It is what it is. Watt-maker hit the nail on the head with his last sentence.
Surely Ford can come up with something better than this. Why can't they change the way it operates back to the pre-'12 models? Heck, even my Sync worked better with my Droid on the previous versions.

Mine was doing the same thing and it was annoying. I ended up turning off "Auto Play" in the radio settings menu. I only did this a few days ago but so far so good. Upon start up the radio initializes to what ever I was listening to prior to shutdown.
my 13 does the same thing, sometimes.
Mostly I listen to music from a thumb drive which I run off of USB2 through a cable to the glove box. Does not seem to matter if I turn it off before getting out of the truck or if it just shuts down when I open the door. Sometimes when I restart the truck it comes back to USB2 and sometimes to FM1. If I had been listening to Sirius it always comes back to that. dunno about commercial radio as I don't listen.
Sometimes I can get back to USB2 by hitting the AUX button, sometimes it will not show a USB2 option. I found that i can get USB2 by using a voice command, but again sometimes it works with voice sometimes it takes more than one try. Maybe I mumble but I think not.
While not wishing ill on anyone else I am glad to see I am not the only one who had problems with the dang radio.
Like a guy said above it is the most hands on hands free thing I have ever seen.
