Do the 15/16's have the same ring sensor like us?
I almost feel like we never hear from the guys who take that sensor off.
I'm guessing here, maybe they went with redesigned batteries in the 15/16 with no sensor.
I'm also just taking guesses, if the new ones aren't experiencing it. Although I feel like I heard guy's complaining with the first models. Maybe just 'miss-remembering'.

I've been reading this thread from the beginning as I've had the same issue. I do remember a couple of people reporting that they visited the dealership in hopes of trading their 11'-14' trucks in for a new 15' and getting in one only to find the battery saver message pop-up on a brand 15' sitting in the lot. I never tried myself so this is second hand info but I wouldn't be surprised if they have the same problem.

As for my issue of the battery saver, I took my truck into the dealership on the 30th of Dec in 2014 to get the update and the message has come back once since then, never replaced the battery as it tested fine when they looked at it. I see temps around -10 C/14 F frequently during the winter. It definitely seems like no truck is the same. Some trucks are worse than others with no rhyme or reason.

Thanks for backing that info up. I wasn't 100% sure, but I would've put money down that the new ones were doing the same thing.
Although it shouldn't surprise me. After all, the 15 isn't new from the ground up....

I was hoping Ford corrected the problem and just kept it quiet.

Now what do I do when it's time to trade up from my 2011. Can't get a 2012-14 model. Had my fingers crossed the 15 and later years would be safe.

I've been reading these forums hard for almost a year. The 15+s have not had dead battery problems or people would be screaming. Now there's a whole host of other things people are pissed about. But honestly a dead battery all the time would fry my butt the most. Sorry about your trucks guys. Good luck.

Hi, My 2013 was doing this 1 year ago, still under warranty for me. Before I brought it in it started acting up about 6 months prior to this and kept getting the battery saver alarm more often as time went on. Tried charging the battery for 24 hours without an interruption. Lasted for about a week. I was driving the truck for about a 1/2 hour without shutting it off. Finally brought it in to the Ford garage and found the battery was going bad. They replaced it a year ago, and no more problems. Hope this helps you out.

If it's any consolation, I've only had the mssg pop up once on my 2014 after the accessory was left on for 20 minutes or so.
I'm at 25,000 now, and never any hint that the battery wasn't charged. It's definitely not all of them.
So there's good ones out there.
Just like my 5.0 is nice and knock free. It sounds like a ford engine does. A tiny bit of chug, sound.

I moved the sensor ring from around the negative cable on the battery about a year ago and have not seen that message since. There have been no issues what so ever from doing it.

I believe the 11 - 14 trucks have the problem. After Ford replaced the battery and alternator and I removed the sensor and purchased a larger battery at Wal-Mar I still had the problem. Once I started driving around aimlessly once a week, as recommended by the Ford dealer, the problem disappeared. The problem has nothing to do with the sensor, battery, alternator nor the sensor. It has to be driven (the computer has to boot up), keeping a trickle charger on it does not help.
