Well its official, I finally got my new 2015 truck over the weekend. This buyback took me about 2.5 years, 175 emails and 40 phone calls to get it to the end. Cost me about $6k as I got $3000 more in options on the new truck All in all I’m am so glad to be rid of the 2012 and all if its issues. If I ever end up with a lemon truck again I will just trade it and be done with it as the buyback process is long and aggravating to say the least!

They said my truck is going back to Michigan, so maybe they will have some luck and figure out some of the reasons for the electronics issues on the 2009-2014 platform. How much time they will invest I have no idea, and since my trucks issues were not daily issues I don’t know how much time they will pour into it to get it to do it and then figure out why.

Good to hear. I would, myself be interested in what they find. Maybe you could ask them to keep you in the loop out of curiosity and report back to the thread? I wouldn't blame you if you'd just want to get on with your life though. Tell us how the new truck works out to and what you like better about it than your old one.

Well well, I'm, not the only victim of this fiasco. (wish I would of seen this positing a while ago)
I gotta tell you what MY dealer told me today. I cannot believe he could say this and keep a straight face.

According to him, the warning is there to say I cannot have the accessories on at all. My warning came up pretty much instantaneous.

He said all modern cars draw too much power and kill batteries. I told him to give me keys to any of the vehicles outside to check it out, he pretty much poo pooed that idea, and said I'm untitled to a second opinion.

I told him my battery had totally died more than once, and it seems when I drive for a long distance (400 mi), it is croaked the next day! Stone cold dead, as in needing to use the key to open it ( I had to retrain myself for that).

The silly green dot has been gone for a while too. According to them, they loaded the battery and it checked out fine, so Ford will not replace it.

I told them when I dropped it off, to have the tech turn the acc. on and watch for the warning. I'm sure he did not, being before I even started it, it came up.

Needless to say I left their service area leaving a couple stripes of rubber on their pretty painted floor. And informed them it will be the LAST time I deal with them.

So whenever your in the Woodhaven Michigan area, AVOID the dealer just south of West road for service.

I have hat this battery warning light problem from day one. They replaced the battery and alternator for me the first year and I have since replaced the second battery on my dime. I have tried everything from charging the battery with the leads disconnected, hooking them up the next day, letting the truck sit for another 24 hours before starting it, disconnecting the sensor wire and also installing a battery cut off switch, not to mention going for a 20 mile drive on the highway. NOTHING works, not even the trickle charger.


SOLUTION OFFERED BY THE FORD DEALER: Drive around aimlessly once a week.


So now, while it is 100 outside, instead of riding my bike, I use the truck to pick up a gallon of milk in the truck and make sure I take a trip downtown every seven to ten days and mark the date on my calendar. It works! The computer has to be used or the system fails. God I love those days when I could put in a set of points, condenser and do the timing in half an hour and everything worked. But then again we now have more power and better gas mileage.

I understand many have had to replace batteries etc. and one individual had a Ford Buy Back, didn't read thru all 135+ pages. But just wanted to note my experience with similar issue. I had the same Ford warning- alert that radio would not play to save battery? Happened when truck sat for several weeks without driving. Brought into dealer and they said known issue just needed to adjust alert point, I suppose they reduced the point Ford had factory set to a lower voltage, not certain. But haven't had issue reoccur, though my truck hasn't sat up for that long since. I will say with the amount of wiring in our trucks and computer s and electronics lots of strange things occur. And many are intermittent and don't leave a code. No code no diagnosis as dealer doesn't get paid.

Seems like easiest route if you have "ghosts electronics" is to make a trade? Buyback sate a long road and don't always have a good outcome. Happy he finally got a new Ford, hope your 2015 is problem free.

Same issue with my 2014. They told me there was no draw on the battery when the ignition was turned off. They changed the parameters for the alert screen to pop up. I can park my truck with the green light on and it's black by morning. Does seem to take incredibly long to charge the battery back up while driving.

I wonder if this severe drain problem is also happening on the F-250's on up, or only the F-150's?

I have a 2, 10 and 15 amp automatic charger. I have used them all on the truck and now they do no shut off automatically when charging my marine batteries. When I put them on the Ford they never shut off even though the battery is up to 12.9 volts! It's the computer, it just keeps calling for more charging. I only have 12,000 miles on my 2011 truck because I use the bike all summer. Just follow the Ford dealer's instructions and make sure you drive around aimlessly at least once a week. Installing a larger battery did not help, it will be at 12.5 volts and still the warning lights come on.

I've posted before a few times on this thread. I've had the problem since early on when I purchase this truck and have tried all the suggestions. At risk of jinxing myself again this problem seems to have disappeared.

Driving aimlessly didn't do it.
Disconnecting the battery for 24 hours didn't do it.
I never took off the sensor ring since that only removes the warning. Does nothing to eliminate the drain.

I'm on my 3rd battery all warranty luckily.

Here's what I think and I've said it before. I believe the battery does not get charged while driving. It only charges at idle. I regularly drive 350 miles. Those drives never charged the battery. I'd get the warning at each fuel up.

What happened to me is I had to fly somewhere for a week. I knew I'd have a dead battery at the airport parking lot when I got back so I disconnected it. Ever since I've not had the problem. I also idle the truck much more than normal. For instance if i stop for lunch and need to send some emails I'll sit there idling till done rather than shut down and do that work in the restaurant. Just a couple days ago I sat with the radio on and the engine off and after 10 or 15 minutes the radio shut down with no warning just like it should.

Maybe its the idling that's working or maybe the truck needs more than 24 hours with the battery disconnected.

What I don't know is the condition of the battery at the airport. Maybe that reset put the warning at a lower level but the last couple times I've put my analyzer on the battery it read 100%.

Now I'm crossing my fingers and toes.

BTW my truck has all the common problems. Its probably the last Ford for me. They seem to not give a !@%#$#
