Default Radiator Damage

Tell me if this is a bad idea or not. Bought a 2012 xlt supercrew in october. 5.0L, chrome pkg, & 4wd. On my old f150 large bugs or debris would hit radiator fins and bend them over. As time went on i had many spots of bent over fins. Is there any type of screen material that would protect radiator better, but still allow sufficient air flow to cool the truck? Probably looking for something better than screen door screen! Thanks.

DBS bug screen or screen door material. I bought the DBS as it was cheap and I didn't have to do anything but install. I've had it on for 2 years no problems.

Where do you find that? Is that a proper name for the screen? Never heard of it. Thanks!

I made my own bug screen from a $4 bug screen that I bought at Walmart.
FWIW, that is the fins on your AC condensor getting bent and full of bugs. The radiator sits behind the condensor.

Those are totally unnecessary.

Which hurts air flow more a screen in front of the AC condensor or a condensor with bent fins and bugs stuck in the fins?

This will be interesting. Haven't had the truck in the summer yet but I can only imagine these trucks collect their fair share of bugs
