Quick, Simple, Possibly stupid question!
I tend to have a heavy foot and like to really get on it. Will the gears help with accelaration? The only thing I will ever really tow is my Fathers boat. Not sure of the weight of the boat and trailer. But is a 23' Jones Brother Center console.
3:73 will have better acceleration but rpms will be slightly higher on hiway(I think it is around 200 more rpms around 70). It is kind of a trade off. 3:31 is what I ordered but I only tow a few times a year and i was looking for the mpg. If you don't tow much I would say go with 3:55s, best of both worlds.
My new truck is suppose to arrive sometime next week. I didn't pay any mind to what gears I got. I just had my good friend / dealer take care of that part. I saw on the Window sticker that he orderd the truck with 3.73 gears. The wait is killing me, my current vehicles accelerates like a turtle.

With the Ecoboost? 3.73 gears are almost overkill in that thing. It has absolutely incredible power at about 1500 RPM, and with 3.73 gearing it will be humming at about 2000 at 70 MPH.
mine has a 3.73 rear end, it doesn't even really get a chance to spin the turbos before the gears shift.
Now when you're towing - that's a whole other story. 3.73 is awesome to tow with.
