Quick Question on Bilstein 5100's

No, not at the moment, partly due to me honestly not knowing where it is coming from. Like I mentioned, I'm relatively sure that the outside of the boot is rubbing on the inside of my rear tires or perhaps a brake component, but when the truck is sitting still, I'm not understanding how that's happening, due to there being plenty of room between the tire/brakes and shock boot. I'll get more into it this coming week and hopefully get a definite culprit.

Let us know what you find out.

That is now my thought as well, just odd timing due to it happening literally right after the things were installed. I drove into town today and don't believe the noise was there; although, it was raining pretty hard, so it would have been a little hard to hear.

Unfortunately, the "grinding" noise is still existent. I got under the truck and see absolutely nothing that could be rubbing anything after the shock and block install. It is only doing it under light braking at low speed and seems to be coming from the left rear, but I'm certain that it isn't due to something being caught up in the brake or rotor. I'm convinced that it is something related to the install; I just don't know what. I guess I will just take it back to the shop that installed everything and go from there.

Something is not right if you have any noise. We have 100's of the same kits out there and no one has any grinding, clunking, or rubbing issues. Must be install problems. If there is anyway we can help let us know. Check if the blocks and U-blocks are installed correctly, check the shock bolts to make sure the are tight.

Well, finally had a day with sun and no rain. I got under the truck and found this:
Of course, that's the emergency brake cable rubbing the inside of the rear tire. The blocks in the rear raised the truck to the point of causing the cable to shorten too much. I ended up just getting a couple of steel cable ties and wrapping them around the frame and cable. Anyone else had this issue? I assume to fix it the right way, I just need to buy the entire brake cable in a longer length? My truck has a 5.5 foot bed; I wonder if I can get a cable for my same model year, just the 6.5 foot bed version?

Has anyone else had the issue of the adjustable 5100s topping while at highest setting (2.25")? I'm installing a set on my truck soon, and I haven't seen a definitive answer in any forums. Thanks.

i wouldn't worry about it and proceed as planned. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing.
