question on relocation of #27 fuse

I have the kit, question is did anyone use lead core solder instead of rosin solder and any issues if you did? Thanks.

Acid core solder is for plumbing. Do not use.
Rosin core has the flux (cleaner) built in. Generally the best for electronics.
No flux/acid core should work, but generally will not flow as well and may be a problem if the wires are oxidized.

Bottom line, as this fix can leave you stranded if done wrong I would use rosin core (or use a separate flux).

Thank you

Use any current 60/40 rosin core tin/silver solder for best results.

EDIT: Do not use the previous link given that was 60/40 tin/lead.

Agreed,

but good luck finding any radio shacks, they've all packed it up in our area.

Any good hardware store, Ace, TrueValue, etc will have it, just don't go to the plumbing section.

We have two local to me, the link I posted is an online store that is still in business.

Yep, Radio Shacks have closed near me as well. I was going to lowes because they show an electrical solder, but reviews say it doesn't flow well. If I use flux with the proper solder, is that ok for the fuel pump application?

Radio Shack used to be one of my favorite stores for small electronic parts/supplies. Over the years their inventory was reduced to just a few small bins/drawers. The 3 stores near me all closed up, I thought they were all gone.

60/40 tin/silver is best. Reality is 60/40 tin/lead is most likely more available and works great, just be sure to ventilate the area properly.

I would think that any electrical solder silver/tin or lead/tin will work as long as its fine enough for the wattage iron and the iron's wattage is enough for the job.

A low wattage iron won't flow a large gauge solder or a large job that requires a lot of heat.

The only problem with lead/tin solder was bench techs sucking the fumes in all day long.
