I have a 2010 Ford F-150 XLT. It is just shy of its third year of service, however I purchased a premium extended warranty. Over the last three years, my dealer has had to replace the license plate lights at least eight times when the outer piece pops up during travel. I walked out to the truck this morning and saw that, again, the license plate light has popped off.

My dealer has been lazy about the issue. They seem content fixing the problem, billing Ford for their time, and waiting for it to happen again. I'm fed up. Every time I drop it off, it's at least a two hour wait for them to repair it. I am disgusted that (a) the dealer can't permanently fix this, and (b) Ford doesn't seem to care when the dealer sends through a service bulletin inquiry.

How can we fix this...PERMANENTLY? I have sat at the dealer for over 20 hours FOR A LICENSE PLATE LIGHT. And they're stingy about loaners.

Dealer claims they tried gluing it. I'll tell ya one thing - if anything major goes wrong with this truck, I'll be taking it somewhere else. How can I trust these guys with a major mechanical issue when they can't fix a light?

Go get two part epoxy. They should have it at HD or lowes.

At least they are working with you... my dealer denied my warranty claim when a buddy of mine stepped up onto my rear bumper and it snapped. I backed into a bush months earlier and it left a couple marks on it. "sorry sir, we are denying your claim." Thankssss

how much is your time worth? i would just fix it myself. 20 hours of my time at what you make an hour plus the headache, plus being without your truck. pull the wiring up tight and put a tywrap on it should keep it from popping out if i understand what it is doing.

That is a common problem dont allow them to glue it demand replacement as you have seen glue wont last. Plus it will take less time or you can do it yourself. Dont be rude but dont let them walk on you like they have been. Force thwm to put you in a rental every time its what you paid for and what they owe you.

Good luck with this one. I can't get them to replace my rear step pad for a stripped ot license plate screw hole. My truck had 1,200 miles on it and only one of the 2 screws holding my plate on. And the dealer had to submit a picture of the screw hole in the rear step pad for approval to for, to cover it under warranty. It was denied, saying it was customer abuse. Its a crappy design. So I have to buy a new cover on my own dime. Ford is losing sight of their customers and short sightedness for having customers being a repeat customer. When they are burning people on ligtiment warranty repairs.
