Default Question about order process

I ordered my truck on July 30th. For the longest time, the dealer would say the only status they have is that Ford accepted the order. I just got off the phone with the salesman. He said he talked to the guy that does the ordering for them, and when he punched in the information for my truck, he said the status now shows that the information has been sent to Ford Manufacturing. What does that mean? I was told there's still no VIN, so how long after this "status change" should it be for a VIN to be generated? Can anyone enlighten me?

It should be a couple weeks but nothing is etched in stone. Some orders take way longer than others. I ordered my 2011 on 3/17/11 and it was built on 3/31/11. I had my vin# in less than 2 weeks. I took delivery 34 days from the day I ordered it.

I ordered my 2013 Platinum two weeks ago and today my dealer called me saying it's scheduled to arrive at the dealership on 10/29 (give or take a day or two). So if you ordered yours in July... it should have made it through production long before mine. Good luck.

You'd think, but apparently that's not the case.....

It could be that someone at the dealership dropped the ball. July? I know it can take a while but 60 days and no VIN# sounds fishy especially since most are in within 60 days of ordering (mine was). But, what are you going to do?

The truck I ordered is a Limited, and I know they didn't start production on them until September in Dearborn. Also, my understanding is that dealer stock orders were filled first, then custom orders would be filled. So I expected to wait a little bit.

I just don't know how long I should expect to wait for a VIN, now that the status has supposedly changed to being sent to Ford Manufacturing.

Hey Flea I ordered my lariat June 26th and I'm finally scheduled to be built this week out of Dearborn. I agree dealers are filling their lots before they build custom orders. After complaining to my salesman boss they put a higher priority on my build through their ford rep. Good luck and hope your vin shows up soon!

Default Are you tracking your order....

...on that "other" F150 website?

If you have an order number and a dealer number you can, too.

I know exactly where mine is...almost to the minute......

I had a picture taken of my order confirmation (I'm out of town) and sent to me in a text. I can read my order number, but I can't quite make out the dealer number. I can read part of it, but I'm not even sure if I'm getting those right or not. For instance, I can't tell if one digit is a Z or 2.

Alright, I made a call and got the information (order number & dealer number, no VIN). Now what do I do with it?
