Default Pulled trigger today on SCT X4 and 5Star tunes

I'm joining the ranks of the tuned. 5 Star has a sale going right now on tunes with a tuner. Three free tunes with the tuner and for an extra $10 I got 2 more tunes. So I went from never having any tunes to 5 coming soon. Couldn't really pass up that deal.

Soooo, a couple more questions.

It looks like they can disable traction control. Yes/no? I don't like it during the summer, but what about the winter? Any benefit?

I may as well get one economy tune. I'm thinking if I take a long road trip it might come in handy. 87 or 89?

Tell me what tunes you would have to have.

Thanks for the input!

I dont have a need to disable traction in FLA winters, but ive read some people just get trans tunes for winter, so they arent constantly spinning tires. Ill let someone else speak to that....

If I could do it over, id get the 89 economy instead of 87, but I love my 5* overall. Would also like to try MPT tunes eventually.

The economy tunes are more for city stop and go, that's where you'll get the best results.

I have 87 Perf/ Tow, 89 Perf/tow, 91 perf/tow, 91 perf, 91 perf TC disable, I pretty much only use the 91 perf and sometimes the 89 perf/tow. I only run 91 octane fuel at all times.

I also have a 87 economy which I never use and wish I would have not gotten, their trans only tune would have been better.

Nix on the economy tune, waste of $$. Get a performance/tow tune for what ever octane you run and never look back.

+1 on this. I ran there eco tune on a 6hr road trip and didn't see a difference in mpg compared to 87 per/tow tune. And the truck ran like stock on eco tune..

The Traction Control delete is still controlled with the dash mounted switch. You still have it, until you turn it off. The tunes do not totally remove this feature. But when you switch it off, it will be totally off until you turn the truck off, or turn the switch back on.
I nixed the Economy tune when I updated mine recently and added the deletes to my tunes.

I thought if I turned off traction control right now it would stay off until the truck starts back up. No? So what's different about the tune?

Definitely interested in strategy for tunes in summer vs winter. We get some snow here and roads are slick for months sometimes.

I'm about a month or so Im to having my truck tuned by 5 star. I also agree that you shouldn't waste time with the economy tune. I'm very happy overall. I had my truck dyno'd with the 93 perf/tow and 93 race tune against stock and it was a +25 hp/26 ft lb difference on perf/tow and a few less on the 93 race.

All aspects of computer control (RSC, ESC, TC) are defeated and given to the driver. The computer does not derate throttle response to inhibit wheel spin/slide.
