I really dig the painted surrounds on the different trucks. Jus too much chrome in the stock grille.

What's a ptm surround sell for? I have the chrome one on the truck and I snagged a silver ptm surround with the black c clamp insert. I got it because I heard the chrome doesn't take paint well (I'm sterling grey) so I figured I'd paint the silver one and replace....but now I see a lot of you guys painting the chrome with no problems so I might do that and sell the silver one to maybe pay for the professional paint job on be chrome. What's it worth?

I went with mbullock's advice and got a paintable surround. I bet the chrome will hold up if done correct, but I figured if I was doin this on a truck I was keepin forever, I'd start off with factory stuff. Should have my surround Friday, so hoping to have it painted and put on late next week.

I didn't paint mine, I bought an FX grille from a forum member and transplanted his already painted surround to my chrome grille, but before I did, I took mine completely apart blacked out the grating then put the chrome c clamps and bars back on with the new surround.

Took my chrome surround and mated it with the FX black grille and sold that to someone else.

Started out looking like this.
