Proof our A/C is more than capable
Got to messing around with IDS and my truck because I wanted to see if the a/c system was truly under sized and incapable of cooling the interior as many claim must be the reason for poor performance and sub standard cooling.
Well the system is not only capable but even capable of hanging meat in, colder than our refrigerator/freezer.
First a pic of where my system usually hovers at even on a 90*F day
Now with IDS connected and a/c compressor operation at my command using IDS, here is what it's actually capable of...
Note: I also added an extra 14-18 oz of Freon to my system.
Screen shot of IDS pressure transducer at time of picture above.
If anyone doubts it you're more than welcome to come by and I will prove it using your own truck.
So now what we need to know or someone to do is a way to manipulate compressor clutch on time, which is basically all I did, I took that away from the PCM (which controls it not the hvac module) and made it run until I let it cycle. It may have gotten colder had I let it go for a while but by this time my nose and ears were starting to get numb.
I thought about taking IDS around with me so I can control it but noting the first pic above I'm quite comfortable already.
Any way just wanted to throw more evidence out there that the systems in our trucks are more than capable, it's just throttled back by Ford for probably higher epa ratings, better fuel economy and greater hp. <--(Speculation)
I'm sure some of you would give up a little hp and have to add fuel more often if the a/c were let loose to operate better.

I'm pretty certain it could be fixed by changing values in the programming Ford wrote. If anyone can decipher the code and change the values it can be re programmed in by altering as-built data.

Yep we have to get that mod working! Interesting that the IDS will only allow you to take complete control, and not reset anything!

Is there anything in the IDS that you could compare to a 15? to see what they changed?

You would think that with all of the warranty work gong into these, ford would make the PCM reprogramming and provide to us! Would save them a bunch of money!
It may be time for a class action on this!

I'm going to dig in and do some more research but 2 or a thousand heads is better than one so if anyone else cares to input data I'm all ears.

Do you have a team of lawyers and the federal gov backing?
