programmer does it really uninstall all the way?
i been looking at a sct x3 and i c u can save the factory setting does this mean if i bring the truck to ford for something or other they cant find anything from the chip putting it back to factory setting?

It depends on what broke - I had a family member turn the tune up a little too high on a Super Duty with the 6.0 in it - the engine survived, but it split the transmission apart. Ford was absolutely not believing a word of it when he said he didn't do anything.

There are some repairs that ford engineers know that only result from tuning. On a 6.0 psd the piston tops get scorched bc of injection timing modifications. There are ways of telling without finding a after market tune on the pcm.
They can also look at the key cycles . If your truck has 40k miles on it and only20 key cycles, they know something is up. It depends on the amount of time cycles the ignition bf running and if when the tuner restores the factory tune if it resetes, modifies, or restores the key cycles from when it was originally tuned. Just make sure its not tuned when get it servuced. The shop may suspect it was tuned but as long as no factory reps start questioning the repair. They will be more than happy to fix it. On gas motors its very difficult to add enough HP to break anything by tuning alone. Most gas tunes are improving throttle response ( seat of the pants feel) it is possible to advance the timing too far and burn some holes in the piston. But no responsible tuner is going to do that. |
The story I was told was he could put the truck in 4 wheel high, stomp it to the floor, and light all four tires up at 55 MPH heading up hill (I may not be remembering it accurately. I'm absolutely sure he could burn rubber at 55 MPH going up hill, not totally sure on if he was in 4WD or not). Which may explain the cracked transmission :) I'd hate to be the guy who bought that truck next lol

well im worried about the tanny the most i know lots of diesel trucks that got chip and blew the tanny i know my gaser is differnt but will it be safe? for the most part im only pulling a 16 foot boat and the odd stuck '"CHEVY""

bc tunes on trannys can add 100+hp!
