379+ tax for 5star with 3 custom tunes.
87 econo
87 p/t
91 per
I was also impressed with the canned tunes. The 93 is a beast. All canned tunes offered improved shifting over stock ,but not as improved as the 5star.
First time loading tune takes about 15 mins after that switching tunes is probably 5-7 mins.
Oh and make sure you have the latest updates on your truck.

last time I checked the 2013 SCT Ecoboost canned tunes did not work yet. However the custom tunes were okay. Maybe that has changed by now.

I have 5 star tunes and I am very happy with them. Low end torque on his performance/tow tunes are awesome. But if I did it all over again I might consider Livernois. You almost never hear anything negative about them and full out performance is excellent. I am running stock right now until Ford gets my intercooler in. After that I may add a MPT tune. His are $75 for 1 or $150 for 3. Or I might just go with Livernois, if I can talk myself into spending the money for it.

Ideally it would be 5 Star for towing, Livernois for play.

I am only speaking for the Ecoboost tunes, I am not familiar with the 5.0/6.2 tunes.

I am an Eco boy. So Livernois is looking like my most solid option?

Oh and for comparisons sake the absolute fastest stock Ecoboost truck ran a 14.3@94 and with intake and tune I ran a 13.9@97, add downpipes and I'm at 13.679....so the tune helps quite a bit. Good luck with your choice.

Besides power on the 93 dose it give you any more MPGs VS a 87 tune? For me the only reason I haven't thought about it the dealer trying to void my warranty especially since their not to happy with me right now since I didn't get the truck from but it came though them.

I have got both 5 star and Livernois tunes, I switch back n forth between tunes at least 2 times a week. I run the Livernois 93v2 for daily driving and I run the 5 star for towing my boat. IMO the Livernois is just flat out fast. The 5 star 93 perf/tow I use only for towing my boat. It's a beast for towing. I run the hills here on 4% slopes and hardly leave 6th gear running 70mph. I have also ran the Livernois 93 tow and its nice but it just doesn't give me the low end torque I desire for what I do. But if I had to choose one or the other it would be the Livernois because its just flat out fun to drive.

The more I read the more I am thinking I am just going to talk to Rick at Livernois.

Ask yourself one question: why doesn't Ford use these tunes from the factory? In the cutthroat competition between truck manufacturers, even a fraction of extra performance or economy can make the difference in tens of thousands of sales.

Is it because they don't have the dyno knowhow or the hrs to dial in the right tunes? Hardly. Is it because they aren't interested in extracting every last bit of usable power and fuel economy out of the truck? They spend millions doing just that.

The answer, I suspect, is because these tunes extract extra performance at the price of less reliability and shorter life cycles of key drivetrain components. The manufacturers choose a tune that balances reliability and longevity with performance. Which is why I run stock. There is no free lunch, people.

Well said. You play, you pay! The EcoBoost has only been out for a couple of years and generally very few can talk about real world long term durability on trucks with the stock Eco engines, and modified-engines even less so.

I think the tuners everyone is talking about pretty much know what they are doing as far as remapping engine performance settings but none of them are going to be able to qualify that they tested their product after 150,000 miles and assure you that there will be no issues or premature failures. They can't.

A lot of folks are successfully running the tunes with their Ecos with no real issues so far, and a few have ran into some serious issues if you search.

But the draw to getting more horses and performance out of our trucks is strong....almost American....lol. I know I am considering it even though I know better and that I am taking a gamble with my warranty for a +$50K truck. So I continue to ponder and wait.
