I've had this exact same problem since shortly after getting the truck, a 2013 Platinum, back in November of 2012. Within seconds of turning the ignition off the LCD would say going into power save mode or something. Still happens every day. I notice it happens less if I do a lot of highway driving.

I should also add that when they installed the ARE cap they also hard wired a 3 plug cig outlet in the cap and that has 3 lights which indicate power level, and it shows a slightly low capacity on the battery.

I think there are components drawing power all the time which causes the loss and the Sync system is cutting off too early.

Did you try it the other night? Any difference?

well, considering it came back this morning, thanks for the info but that apparently didn't do anything for me

However, I do see that my powersteps are grounded directly to the negative terminal, between the post and the BMS module. From what I read I can see that would cause a problem with the BMS. With that said, would having the module grounded there (I can easily move it to a body grounded bolt nearby) ACTUALLY CAUSE the battery to lose charge or just make it think it is losing charge and trigger this error?

and this morning it is back. Truck sits in a 68-72f garage under the house. I could tell when the engine turned over this morning it was slower than normal. Drove it about 15 miles, turned it off and there it was again. Depending on whether the dealer tries to give me the same line about 'drive it more', I will be calling ford to open a case.

Dam, thought that was your problem. As far as the ground, not sure which way it would go. Since Ford states not to connect there (although they put this nice stud/nut right there on the terminal), I would move it. Crazy shiite, ain't it? Man I hope you get it fixed.

While your at the dealer, have them reset the BMS, if they don't know what that is, then there is the problem. If I remember correctly, the tech said it was in the pcm functions. Move that ground cable first though.

I've had this problem since I purchased the truck in Feb. Got the same answer, "Drive it more". Since Feb I've put on 27,000+ miles. How much MORE driving does it take to charge a battery? I'll drive 450 miles non-stop, turn the key off and get this message.

Funny thing is if I sit for 10 minutes idling, the problem goes away. For a while.

Lot of little nit picky things with these trucks. And they add up in the wrong column.

With that being said - mine sits couple weeks at a time and I've never had that issue...

well it goes tomorrow for an appt. just for an update, low battery / too many short trips my ***, this 'saver' is kicking in with 12.62v showing on a multimeter seconds after the system shut down today. Then later with 12.51v showing the 'saver' never kicked in.

Short trips they say? I should mention the 'saver' kicked in today after a 92 mile drive to St Louis from here. No air or heat on, beautiful day, just the satellite radio.

Perhaps the battery management sensor is flaky.

had to reschedule so it went this morning. ^Y&*(^(%^(*^*&*(*()

The battery save state has been kicking in with battery voltages above 12.5v I told them I thought it was the battery management system (flaky) but they 'tested' the whole system and found another defective battery. Defective,ok that's why the BMS kicks in with a 12.5v+ reading. Makes sense, not.

NOW, I went and picked it up, got home , turned the key off, opened the door. Thought to myself 'self, that's odd, the radio should kick off with the key out and door open right?' 'yup.

Out of the blue, now if I barely touch the key with it in the ignition, this happens.

Going to go demonstrate this for them in the morning. Hope it doesn't catch fire before then, Ford seems to have a problem with some vehicles and their ignition switches don't they?
