When you were drilling through the post plug did you just drill blind through the plug, having a hard time seeing where the drill bit would come out into the cab.

Thanks

There is a picture below showing the location of that wiring plug in the BCM behind the passenger side kick panel.

I ran three wires from the passenger door, through the drilled hole in the door post plug, across the dash, again through the drilled hole in the drivers door post plug, and into the drivers door. There is a picture below showing the wiring going through the drilled post plug.

The three wires were connected to pins 2 (green in my case) and 9 (white in my case) (for Telescope function) and pin 11 (yellow in my case) (replacing puddle light with clearance light function). In the drivers door, the yellow wire connected to pin 11 in the mirror. The green and white wires will be attached to the telescoping switch.

After the dimming wires were disconnected from pins 9 and 11 in the drivers mirror, telescoping wires were run for later attachment to the telescoping switch.

Again I say THANKS to CDNVegas for the work he provided!

There are also 3 pictures below showing my door panel after the cuts were made. Although the cuts look rough, the cover plate mounts very securely.

I hope this write up is understandable.

Ok so this is a project I have been working on. I am thinking about replacing the door harnesses and then place the connectors in the body harness that connects to the doors. So I called Ford with a vin from a truck that is identical to mine with the exception of the Power Extend Tow Mirrors. The Dealership was very helpful and provided the Part numbers as well as the Retail prices. Passenger Door Harness is DL3Z14630EA ($57.90) and the Drivers Harness is DL3Z14631EA ($83.87).

Working on the writeup. I will post a step by step with pics as soon as it is done.

Any thoughts?

I have an '11 Lariat Supercrew with Max Tow, which means I have the Manual extend Tow mirrors. I bought a set of the Powerscope Tow mirrors 2 years ago. I then got the mirror control switch with the power fold function, the switch to extend, and the door panel bezel. I haven't got the extend switch pigtail yet though. I'm also gonna be upgrading my door speakers at the same time. I've saved this thread in my favorites for reference, but I haven't done the swap yet. I know I can do the swap as-is, but the power extend will not operate, and the side marker will operate as the puddle lamp. The main reason for me doing this is to have the power fold AND power extend features. I don't want to have to get out to pull the mirrors out. So, The work for me will be installing the door bezel and switches, doing the wiring in the drivers door for the power extend, and side marker functions. I'm also considering adding regular puddle lights (LED versions). Then running the wires over to the passenger side, into the passenger door, then do all the connections there, etc.. The truck will be down for some time while I do this. For me, getting a door harness may not be an option. For the '13-'14 trucks it probably will be doable. But I have an '11, and the Powerscope Tow mirrors were not an option then. But, it would be nice!!

I am very interested and I would love to see how you do this! I have the power folding and power extending mirrors on my 2006 Screw right now but haven't found a way to do it yet

So far I have installed the mirrors. All of the functions with the exception of the Power extend/retract and marker lights were plug and play. Today I connected the marker lights. This was easy. I used the information found in this thread to develop my own method. I located the Violet wire that goes into Connector 237 (passenger side door connector) Th violet wire goes to pin 47. I also found the Yellow/Blue(stripe) wire that is connected to the parking lights. This wire is in a bundle that comes out of the fuse box. I used a light test or to identify the correct wire as there are a few of these wires(not all on the same circuit). I made a jumper wire from the yellow/blue to the violet before it goes into the connector. That was all it took. This one connection gives power to both sides.

As for the power extend portion of this project, I have ordered a new driver's door harness (DL3Z14631EA). This harness will have all of the connections and wires and is only a few bucks more than buying a pigtail connector. All that leaves is to connect the power extend (drivers door pin 8) and power retract (pin11) to the passenger side connector. I am still working on identifying the correct pins on the passenger side of the body harness (c237). I haven't decided if I am going to purchase a passenger side harness (DL3Z14630EA) or just add the two wires that go to the mirror connection. The final connection is the power connection that goes into the driver's door at pin 39. Apparently this power can come from any source but the factory source is fuse 32. This fuse also runs "Delay/Accessory - moonroof, power windows, locks, Automatic dimming mirror/Compass, Trailer tow power telescope mirrors" I am also trying to find a connection to tap into this on the drivers side to reduce the amount of wire I have to run.

I will post the progress along with a step by step including pics as soon as I get the harness in and the time to do it all.

Hi guys,

I traded my buddy his power telescopic tow mirrors for my power, dimming ...he has a 2014 fx4 and I have a 2013 fx4.

I have purchases the bezel, switch a pigtail.....the only thing l can't seem to find are the crimp terminals that go into to the pigtail slots required to power the telescoping feature and the running lights.

Could someone please send me a link or idea from where to purchase a dozen or so of these from..i have found sites but they have a minimum dollar amounts limit.

Thanks.

BD

Thanks soooo much to all who pioneered this mod and contributed to this thread with all the part #s and tips.

The thread has a bunch of pinout #s, but I didn't know which terminals in the connectors were what #, or which color wires went to which terminal #. There was some mention that pictures of the wire harness connectors couldn't be posted due to copyrights, so I hunted through a zillion sites and finally found some out there in public cyberspace that look the same as the wire colors and pin #s as in my 2013 SCrew.

Here's the drivers's side plug that plugs into the left mirror (you're looking at the face of the plug with the wires going out the back side of what you see in the picture):

And here's the passenger side - looks pretty much like the driver's side except pins # 2 & 9 are empty because no auto-dim on that side on the standard mirrors:

Here's the connector that plugs into the OE telescoping switch:

I used MrCdnVegas' technique for getting the marker light feature. I did his diode procedure and it worked perfectly.

The OE telescoping switch requires power and ground. For the power (pin #4 on the connector) I ran a wire to the power fold switch white-red wire. For ground pin #5) I ran a wire to the mirror plug pin #8 black-violet wire.

Overall....a little expensive, and quite a few hours of work, but well worth it!!!

I did use the terminal connectors for the empty pins 2 & 9 on the passenger side:

If anybody needs a few just let me know and I'll stick several in an envelope and send them to you.

Good luck if you undertake this great mod!

.

Could you tell me where to buy these terminal connectors from???

Hi there,

I soldered all wires and use heat shrink...and wire loomed everything.

I bought the bezel amd switches from tasca

Will post pics and vids soon.
