For anyone who's interested there is a new method for converting the puddle lights to side markers or in this case, DRL. You do so by connecting to the wire that powers the lights for the windows/door lock buttons on the door panel.

There is a green/purple wire that is in the cluster running to the windows/door lock buttons. Tap into it. Run that wire to the mirror harness. Cut and tap into the purple wire running from pin #11. Repeat on opposite side. Boom, you're done! When the vehicle is running the side markers will be on.

Credit to @smotley7601 for discovering this method and doing a write up with pictures. See post #454 of this thread.

Just read through this whole thread, if all goes good, I should have myself a set of power folding towing mirrors tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

My plan is to completely disable the puddle light and just run the bottom light as a park light, and then hook up something like this for when I unlock the doors.

Thanks for the write up everyone, this thread is what encouraged me to keep a look out for the mirrors.

Heres my beast of a truck with the tow mirrors on, I have every feature working except power telescoping, plan on hooking it up in the summer, when it gets a bit warmer. Driving for about 2 weeks with them now, and I must say that I love them, I do miss the auto dimming feature but I can live with that. I have a total cost of about $65 for everything, including the mirrors. I was lucky and found someone who didn't want them and wanted the small mirrors, so I traded him, and gave him $60 since he wanted to PTM his caps.

Default To confirm..

I've read every post in this thread, and very awesome, plus thanks to the pioneers of this. But to confirm - nobody has auto-dim working after this mod, correct? No work around has been identified to have cake and eat it too?

The powerfold towing mirrors do not have autodim on them. The inside mirror still works as it should if thats what your wondering.

Thanks, that answered two questions. I wasn't aware the mirror lacked the feature, had the impression that it was just a wiring issue. But cool, that makes it somehow more okay.

So can I get telescoping mirrors if I buy the 13+ OEM tow mirrors + switches?

I know the power fold works, But does the telescoping feature work on a '11 xlt with some wiring changes?

I'm quite sure they should work on your '11. In this thread at least one member put them on a '12, and I think member norddu60 installed them on a '10.

This is a loooong thread, but if you're gonna do the mod it's worth reading through the whole thing. At least take a look at these posts numbered below:
Post# 90 has a picture of the black bezel for the OEM telescoping switch

137 has part#s, but I think the bezel # is for the Adobe colored bezel if your interior/door panel is that color

161 has a picture of the Adobe colored bezel

166 has info on what pins on the OEM telescoping switch operate the telescoping feature

194 more pin info

219 more info on wiring lights

256 has pin-out diagrams of the connectors on the mirrors
Good luck - the PowerScope Tow Mirrors are a great mod!!
