I'll be doing the install like CDNVegas with two exceptions. I'll be running a new 15 amp circuit to the telescope switch and I'm picking up the running light feed from my trailer wire circuit(I believe it's the brown wire).
His write up was good, but he did things differently. He's using two switches for telescoping, I'm using the OEM one, he mentioned diodes, I don't know that I need those (hell I'm terrible at this I don't know what I diode does, or why you need a 15W amp)

Wolf_FX4,

1st it's 15 amp, not 15w amp.

I'm using 15 amps because the factory switch does both mirrors at the same time. CDNVegas used two separate switches and runs them one at a time so he tied into a circuit with less amps(I think it was like 7.5 amps).

I posted the wiring for the factory switch back a few pages, it was straight from Fords documents.

Google diodes. It will tell you it only lets electricity flow one way. The diode on the puddle light will stop the parking light circuit from back feeding it. The diode on the parking light will stop the puddle light from back feeding it.

Hope this makes sense.

Lol point proven, I'm a wiring retard.

Is the diode something I need? Does Ford use it from the factory?
Is the amp something I need to do and why or why not?
Thanks a lot lol

Is the diode something I need? I don't know, but I'm going to add them.
Does Ford use it from the factory? I don't know.
Is the amp something I need to do and why or why not? The factory shows a 15 amp circuit going to the telescope switch(Fuse 32). You should be able to look at your owners manual for the information.

Here's the wiring:
TELESCOPE SWITCH
Hot pin 4
Ground pin 5
mirror IN pin 6 to mirror pin 9 RH MIRROR
mirror IN pin 7 to mirror pin 9 LH MIRROR
mirror OUT pin 2 to mirror pin 2 RH MIRROR
mirror OUT pin 3 to mirror pin 2 LH MIRROR

Can you tell me how you will do this? Where do you tap in?

Just finished wading thru the 20 thread pages. Conclusion? Glad I did so and will ensure any new F150 I buy (or special order) has power fold mirrors already factory installed. For those of us that park our trucks in an enclosed garage next to other vehicles, seems this feature is nearly essential vs folding manually every time the truck is driven.

I'm either going to add wire from the battery or fuse block up by the battery. Both have an area where I could add a new line. The new line will have a 15 amp in-line fuse. I will neatly route the wire over to the firewall and feed it into the cab using one of the current rubber wire groumets(sp) that already exist. From there get in into the door(plenty of "how to" in this link).

I just finished the power-scope option on my 2013 Tow Power Fold/Scope mirrors. My truck is a 2012 F150 Lariat that came with power folding mirrors standard. So my install was plug and play for the power folding/adjusting/memory part. I only needed to wire the Telescope and the parking light circuit. I wired my truck very similar to MrCDNVegas. The differences are below.

I tapped into my trailer wiring parking lights circuit, on my truck the wire was brown.
I ran a new 15 amp fused circuit from the battery to the factory Telescope switch.
Both these wire were put into the cab where the bulk of the factory wires enter the cab on the drivers side of the engine bay. I used a coat hanger to fish the wire through.
The connection between the truck and the door on my truck had a large plug like the one on page 17 of this thread, I needed to drill into the triangle portion of the truck plug to run my wires through to the door. I taped my wires to a coat hanger wire then fished the wire through the hole I drilled into the plug. I found it best to stagger the wires to feed them through. This was VERY time consuming, the hole in the cab and the plug are NOT inline with each other.

These are the only things I believe I did different from MrCDNVegas.

I spent about 12 hours doing the project from start to stop. This project requires some knowledge of wiring and mechanics. Also someone else's pioneering the process, Thanks MrCDNVegas!

My wife helped me do this project, she was a great help! You will need someone else if only to save you from getting out from underneath the dash every time you need something.

Congrats! You are one of the pioneers of this mod. Hopefully it will encourage others (me included) that it is possible to tackle.

Enjoy your power-folding tow mirrors. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little jealous..
