Default CarPlay Upgrade

I've been somewhat happy with my Stock Stereo. Just wish it was easier to update.
After a lot of travel and car rentals I've gotten used to Apple Car Play, get in an go.
I don't have to try and figure out how to set up the Navigation.

My 2010 Harley-Davidson Edition has the Sony Navigation. But with SYNC 1 there is no easy DownLoad to use Apple CarPlay.....

https://carpuride.com/

So I purchased a Carpuride 9" for $200 quite possibly the easiest install ever.
Of course I wanted to hide the cables and look as close to a stock configuration as possible.
The longest part was trying decide where to mount it.
Traced mini shelf pad and duplicated a piece of Metal, painted and 3M tape mounted bracket then screwed it down with existing hardware. Drilled a 3/8 hole, routed audio cable to existing radio jack & power cable to fuse box (used fuse 13) both through glove box.

I can bluetooth Apple CarPlay, iTunes playlist, using USB or TF Disk... Shuffle pictures, watch Movies (not while driving of course...but I could) Mirror my iPhone, Stream off of iPhone (Android if I had that).
Having a lot of fun with this, bought some 4gb & 8gb usb & TF disks for $5-$6 and commenced to Loaded Movies, Music & Pictures
I'm still able to Sirius XM, Radio, CD's, Sony Hard drive, Navigation...

Carpuride 9" Screen

I purchased & planned to use a BuiltRight dash mount. Mounted it and it was great very solid.
...it was just that I felt it looked better a little lower.

So, this is basically a 2nd screen for your phone?

Probably Bluetooth audio to the stock headunit or 3.5mm if his stock stereo has an aux input.

Mine…Power Cable to fusebox #13, Bluetooth & 3.5mm cable

Otherwise hooks up to iPhone or Android via . . .
Bluetooth or USB or AutoLink (wifi)

Sound through FM (chose your Channel)
3.5mm audio cable
Has its own speaker

the USB will charge Phone also

I also got it as a test run, if it works out I’ll use this or get one for my Daughters car.

There are 4-5 different models 7”, 9” & 10.3” narrow screen, one with larger speakers… in black & silver

I bought the camera to set up in the front. Bought the hard line power cable for $10.00,
Split the cable sheathing a bit more then hooked up ground, used provided cable & fuse to hook it up to fusebox… #13.
I just keep my iPhone in my pocket mostly now.

Was even able to personalize the start up screen.

Maybe its just the Novelty of New but having this is and figuring it all out has been kind of Fun.

Making calls is easier, than before… its not SYNC 2or3, there might be better system head units.
To upgrade my Stereo $900-$1,500 plus $500+ for install…but for $200.00 I get everything to upgrade for all the reasons I wanted to upgrade.

Amazon sells them for a bit more but bought mine off of there website for cheaper, used promo VET30 got mine for all about $200.00.

Kind of feel I’m trying to advertise these..I’m not…
Just think alot of people would like these, cheaper than a whole new unit…
I hard mounted the power cable so I could pull this out of my truck and install it in another car in 30 seconds, Comes with 2 mounts and 12v cable (since I hard mounted the cable to fusebox)

Let me get this straight....
I can't quite tell if you're listing it's connectivity options off the box or listing how you have it setup?

You link it to your phone via USB or bluetooth?
You connect it to your factory stereo by, 3.5mm jack?
Or, you don't have any connection to your factory system and it plays music/sound through it's own crappy speakers?

You can link USB or Bluetooth.
For Sound...
You can connect 3.5mm to Factory.
You can connect USB.
You can connect to FM station.
You can connect by Mirroring (tried it works cannot remember if the sound followed)
or
You can use the units speaker, for Speaking and Nav prompts it's not that bad.
Music isn't that bad if it is not up to high.

Presently I use Bluetooth, sound through the 3.5mm which comes out of Truck Speakers.
I just go to Media, then (Line) can't remember the exact term.
I can hear Siri through Truck Speakers when using CarPlay for Navigation.
I can Listen to Music off of my phone through Truck Speakers.
Its easier to make and receive calls.
I can use the CarPlay Nav while listen to Stock Truck Radio for Sirius XM, Radio Station, CD

Ford Dealership wants over $200.00 to upgrade my Factory Navigation, I upgraded it before but to do it again...
I know there are a few links to do it myself, tried it multiple time no luck. I paid over $100.00 for the Maps Update CD.
Maybe it is already up to date as its going to be.

CarPlay Navigation was important for me, even though I've lived outside of Nashville for almost 5 years.
I Contract for half the year so I don't know the area great. My Factory Nav isn't recognizing a lot of the new roads.

I loaded up some HeadBangers Ball Videos.
Not a lot about it I don't like...
Still learning how to better use it.

I think the last maps update Sync got was 2018, or 2019 - i've driven through fields and water according to my navigation, though they're likely not much newer than the truck.
